Illinois 87, Iowa 83 Postgame

Have a question about the 10 second calls. On the two back to back I noticed that the 30 second clock reset when the ball hit the rim, but by the time we corralled the rebound it was on 28. The 10 second call came when it hit 20. We really only had possession for 8 seconds at that point. Is that how it is supposed to work, or were we getting short clocked by Iowa timekeeper.. Never really thought about it before.
I caught that score keeper at work also!

Did Kofi foul on that 3 pt shot? I watched the replay and I could not tell if he touched the shooter. I guess that Kofi is so big that the wind he generates when he runs blew over the shooter. I thought it was a flop on the Ia. player. Oh well we won. ILL.

Looked like he caught his arm to me. The guy flopped to sell it, I don't blame him.

When a guy comes from the side like that, it's easy to call a foul. I don't blame the ref for calling that one.

he got a huge and 1 when it was close
I would find benefit on offense from 6 assists against 2 TOs...the only player on the roster who had an a/TO over 2
4 boards is good from the guard spot

youre surprised our 6'3 guard had trouble stopping the 6'9 leading scorer in the country? That was only his job because hawkins fouled out.

Did you really just watch that game and conclude DMW did nothing beneficial to the team? LOL
PREACH. And may I add to this that DMW found Plummer in the corner for the dagger 3! Could we please just appreciate what he brings to the table!?

DMFW was in Perkins head rent-free all night... That was one of the more enjoyable storylines of the evening.

Extended Highlights

In watching these, you can see how Trent just made a fool pf Bohannon all night.
Whoa….easy….JoBo may still be having post concussion symptoms after yapping outside the bar and getting knocked the f out. Certainly I’m not condoning violence, but it it’s nice to see the yapper being taken to school even after having spent the past decade or so at school playing for the Squawkeyes.

I know its super easy to hate on Bohanan, but I'll always give him a smidge of respect for missing the FT to break Chris Street's record. Not a ton, but at least enough to recognize he's a human.

Plummer flushes Hawkeyes.

Plummer drains 3’s to drop Hawks.

Plummer pipes another one.

Plummer sinks Hawkeyes.

BU is Plummer’s biggest rooter.

Plummer showers Hawkeyes with 3’s.

Plummer throws a wrench into Hawks start to the B1G season.

Plummer unclogs Illini offense.

Oh, and Kofi, Trent, Jake, Coleman, Da’ Monte pretty awesome too.

"The Battle Award" doesn't have a clue about what it takes to be a good team. The only thing that matters to him is points scored.

Bardo sure was awfully high on loving on those Hawkeyes for some reason. Both started out just hyping them up big time. Iowa is deserving of some recognition though. Still can’t believe neither are in top 25!
Bardo is like that for every Illini game he gets the privilege to call!

There have been a few posts about the refs getting “swept up” in the comeback and I would have to agree. Lot of questionable whistles on drives that may or may not have involved generous interpretations of the traveling rules. But they gutted it out and have a quad 1 win to show for it. A few more thoughts:

This new quick trigger version of Grandison is awesome. He and Plummer are shooting ridiculous percentages from distance on high volume and Trent and Damonte haven’t even rounded into form yet on the perimeter. All the pieces are there to be scary if they start shooting better.

Kofi’s evolution and maturity are incredible. He’s grabbed 16.5 boards a game through two B10 games and has seen a dip in scoring to keep the ball moving and not get stuck taking on double and triple teams. He should have had at least 1-2 assists again last night if teammates had converted easy chances. As he continues to get more comfortable moving the ball, we will score at will. We kind of are already despite missing our most gifted ball handler and passer.

Coleman embracing being a defensive stopper is awesome. He gave Murray issues. He shut Harper’s water off. He will only get better.

I had a post after the UTRGV game that the ceiling of this team would hinge a lot on the four games that followed and that a team with top seed aspirations needed to take 3/4. Well, they already have. Let’s get greedy.

Coleman really does not get enough credit for the job he did on Murray last night. He's so rangy and quick - if he can get the benefit of the doubt on a few of those calls, and be a little choosier on some of his gambles, he has the potential of a DPOY before he graduates/goes pro.

2 of those calls were phantom fouls. Zebra crew wasn't good and their calls were definitely unbalanced (you don't say, lol).
