Illinois 87, Nebraska 84 OT Postgame

I agree with most of this post. Underwood’s best coaching was late in the game with a timely timeout FINALLY, and making obvious substitution changes. More importantly, Goode still gave us a lot with rebounding. His shooting was concerning, so was Harmon’s obviously, but those free throws at the end for Harmon were huge. Illinois needs better all around.
I concur, but what concerned me with that last or second to last timeout? It was called by either Tim Anderson or Coach Tyler Underwood. In watching live and replay. COACH Brad Underwood almost lost his mind. We maybe talking about the last timeout or the one before it. Someone on bench called a timeout staff wise and it was not Coach Brad!
The coaching tonight was a hot mess. Coming out of halftime it was awesome for about 8 minutes. That was it for the entire night. To many chefs in the kitchen!

A win is a win but coaching and execution has been dicey. Less hero ball, more solid on inbounding, FT’s and more Dainja! That said, I’m hoping the next five days will be a much needed reset before msu.
The Dainja lovers got about the perfect amount of Dain tonight. More Dain=less Coleman and that’s not good for the team

That was a good win. I liked our defense intensity tonight, especially 2nd half. Nebraska hit some insane shots. They got about 10 points on broken plays, it is what is. We had I think 3 droughts of over 3 minutes tonight, but here we are...another win. It takes a lot to beat our Illini, I hope everyone understands that.

Positives.
1. Krush and the crowd were the best they’ve been all year over the course of a whole game.
2. It’ll count as a win. We survived.

Negatives.
1. We just stared down what it will look like in the First or Second Round if we are not sharp … we might survive like tonight, we might not. I don’t want to play with our luck.
2. I should not feel SO nervous when we’re inbounding the ball. Sorry, but an otherwise excellent staff and team just turns it into amateur hour for this one phase of the game??

Obviously more negatives than that, but no need to pile it on after a W. We need to clean things up massively to have a shot in East Lansing.
I guess that it why underwood doesn’t use first half timeout to set up a play. They can’t figure out how to get it in bounds

Honestly this game felt like a parallel of the loss at NW. Played better, felt like they should have won by more, couldn't hit at their normal rate, opponent got unconscious from deep to stay in the game, couldn't close it out at the end, still would have won in regulation if a last second Domask shot falls and everyone feels better.

Running the football spread trying to Inbound the ball late. Is absolutely comical and FUBAR!

Just got back from the game, Nebraska is a well coached, solid group. You had to know this would be a nail biter, most of our games are. I’m glad we have Underwood as our coach but our in game X’s and O’s I continue to be disappointed in. Glad to get the win.

If you don’t get those minutes by Dainja and the hustle plays (Boards) by Luke you don’t win this game. Will take those open jumpers by LG all day long! Tough Dub tonight! M State game is the one that wins us the title IMO!

Has anyone mentioned giving up that sixth foul with 20+ seconds left? I hate hate HATE that! We had an advantage there where we could play extra-aggressive defense and not worry about putting them in the bonus. So what happens next? We foul Tominaga on a drive and put him at the line. What is the effin strategy there???

Glad we got the win, but it's clear we're still nowhere near what we were in December. However, it's an incredibly great sign that we're 4-1 in our last 5, despite not playing our best ball.

This week is huge for us. No game til the weekend means a big week of practice to see if we can work out the kinks, especially on defense. I think last year after an uneasy stretch in b10 we rattle off some wins but fell apart down the stretch. Let's hope this time is different.

The Illini played too much hero ball and not enough team ball tonight. We’re lucky we escaped with a W tonight.
