Big Win. Like us going big

When we are healthy we are good. It is nice to see all players back together. I don’t think we would have lost some of the games that we did earlier if we were healthy. Now we have to get a couple wins in a row

O$U is a good team who made a lot of big 3s and shot FT well

We have to shot FT better

Celebration Win GIF by Fighting Illini Athletics

Start
Great win. Nice to see the fight and energy in the 2H.

And even better, it’s clear as day who the Top 6 should be at this point.

Tomi
Morez
Will
DGL
KJ

Kylan

Sprinkle in Ben and Tre as the game allows.

Let’s go on a run.
I second this...

Oooh boy, I don't know if I'm ready to say that yet

Good blueprint in this game for this team going forward. Still have to shoot the open 3s but much more of the focus needs to be on penetrating and on getting Rez the ball down low. We cut our 30pt attempts significantly. Typically 3pt shots account for around 1/2 our attempts. Today just 1/3. And I think we looked a lot more dangerous for it.

Happy to eat crow after we looked DEAD two minutes into the 2nd half. Good on BU for scrapping the !!!!!! chuck threes offense and putting the team on the floor to DRIVE. THE. BALL against this team.

Kylan
Will
DGL
Tomi
Morez

This is the lineup right now. You want to start KJ, I'm fine with that but with a very short leash right now. Any silly TO, head to the bench. It's killing us, along with missed FTs. I would not be shocked to hear his injury is lingering after today's game.

If this doesn't serve as a sign that the silly 40 threes a game offense is horse bleep, then I don't know what will. Very happy for the sorely needed win. Hopefully up from here!

This was the response we needed from the team. Tomi coming back helped a ton. Morez F’n Johnson with a heck of a game! Dra was great. WR was huge. Kylan with some big contested layups down the stretch.

Loved our fight and intensity. They were hitting everything. Shooting like 60% from 3. And we closed them out like pros with some huge runs.

Rebirth.

Of the orange monster.

I got lots of optimism.

Will Riley’s confidence + feel for the game is breaking out harder than his acne.

Dra snappin like on em like bra. One-hand tomahawk jammin’ on heads and then puttin the bug-eyed emoji stare on em like:

😳 - “you best to fear the Illini”

Boswell hittin a couple nice layups down the stretch, too, to splash a little calm on the message board masochists.

And all this means - especially the emergence of Riley - that we are overall *better* than we were before. Just need a little time for all the superheroes to learn to fight together, again.

The past couple weeks have definitely tested our hearts with strong doses of pain - but such is the cost of being blessed with something you love. There were people on here talkin bout “I’m done with this team”?

C’mon, y’all.

The best is yet to come.

I see blowouts on the horizon.
Rez??

HUGE win. HUGE. OSU shot 50% from 3 and had 5 turnovers, played a hell of a road game and we not only matched that intensity, we took it to them those final 10 minutes. That is incredible. This is the type of game where you lose and you just almost shrug your shoulders, to come back and win this is something that I'm not sure many of us had confidence that we had it in us. Morez was SENSATIONAL, Will was PHENOMENAL, DGL played with great energy, Tomi played with everything he had, and Kylan was the guy we needed to close this out firmly slamming the door. Hell of a job guys, hell of an effing job.

And finally, Brad, kudos for you for sticking with a lineup that was working instead of switching it out those final 4 minutes. That was key to the victory as well.

NICE comeback. Saving a game that was often very much in peril.

Riley and Morez Johnson Jr. TAKING OVER when the Illini needed leaders. The other guys today (except for Boswell)? Not as much.

Riley and Morez Johnson Jr. There’s your heart and soul of this team right there.

The Illini – while generally not playing with great flow and often jagged and uneven – did rescue this game several times when The Other Guys threatened to put a stranglehold on it. Our Beloved played furious D when they needed to grab a hold of the floor.

Many of the Illini don’t seem to be in sync with their own personal floor game right now. As a result, the team as a collective can often appear pressured... forced... rushed... anything but at ease. And you have GOT to play this game with ease and flow if you expect to do anything.

But this game is something to build on. Two young guys finding their way and some nice swagger in the heat of battle in the brutal and tough Big Ten.
Good analysis!

Been waiting for one of these. Fought through a LOT of adversity & showed some toughness. You have to be able to win games like this in March.
Morez was everything we hoped he could be. Kid is so strong & just a freshman.
Tomi is obviously a massive cog in what we try to do.
Even when KJ has a bad game, he’s pretty good.
DGL is the embodiment of “every day”
Riley is finding another gear.
Other than the years it took off my heart, a great game!
Would watch again…
