It’s so easy to root for these guys.

Here’s hoping they finish the regular strong and shock the world in the March…

Great win. Excellent defense last 10 minutes. Nice passing rebounding and driving to hoop

IMO one of the key plays of this season occurred today. Morez snagged a 'bound underneath in the 2H amidst two OSU bigs. Instead of taking it right back up and getting stuffed or having his putback deflected in some way, he paused, collected himself, backed into one of those guys to clear space, and then using his body to screen, took it up for a unobstructed slam.

He is really learning to use his body underneath, not only to get position for rebounds but to clean the O glass intelligently and put himself in a position to score immediately off those boards.

That's a big deal for us. He's going to be a monster in O&B.

Brad says Tomi is at about 60% physically. Even at 60%, he is so valuable to everything the Illini do at both ends if the floor.
This team reminds me a bit of Houston a few years back. Some injuries/illneses, a few untimely, befuddling losses resulting in an under-seeded team. If/when all of the pieces get healthy and fit together, some teams may regret the fact that the Illini end up in their part of the bracket.
Of course, we also could go 3-for-40 from three (I suffer from three-point PTSD).

Must lock up next year:

Tomi
Morez
DGL
Riley

Hopefully keep:
Davis
White

Add Dame and an elite shooter.
Would be nice, but I wouldn't hold your breath in Will. Still in top 20 in many draft projections and more games like today are going to influence that.

The best part of this is DGL talking with the team about energy at the end - leading by example and verbally

^^^^^^^

From 0:42 through 0:59: chills.

As @skyIdub noted, DGL IS Illinois basketball. He's becoming a leader. Guys are listening to him. He's a dawg out on the floor.

Then at the end: Ty. He's loving this. He's part of it. Man, I hope we can keep him. These guys are the cement of the program. We lose them at our peril.
