Moretti might get some run at the end of some games. He can hit FTs and seems to be getting more comfortable. Hopefully the game slows down for DGL as the season goes along, I think he can be a good FT shooter as well.
He might be Fletch's opus. If Morettii gets some weight to him, just enough to stay on his feet in a big ten game, I like what he brings. Excellent facilitator

Just watched the replay. Valpo is better than a mid 300s KenPom team. Guessing they are so inexperienced the algorithm doesn’t know what to do with them.

That said, really disappointing effort overall and especially in the first half. Our defense was better in the second half but I thought they missed a lot of make able shots.

I keep waiting for us to bludgeon teams defensively and on the offensive glass with our size and physicality.

Just my opinion, people are so quick to blame CHawk, but that 1st half doesn’t happen with him on the floor. He’s just an emotional guy I think. Will that bode well long term, not at all. But we are 100% a worse team when he’s not playing. Y’all got to lighten up on that. He’s stuck around when none of that class did and truthfully, as annoying as his flustered play can be, we’re just better when he’s out there.

Good rally in the second half to win going away. The first half was another story. Sometimes Brad's positionless basketball looks more like pointgaurdless basketball.

Just got home from the game. Why was CH out?

The end result wasn’t bad. But 45 points in half and lack of effort

TSJ and Goode did a lot tonight

Dain needs to stop making mental mistakes last game an ill advised goaltend. This game a T. These things kill momentum
Right, Dain can and should fix these ill-advised things, and he keep working hard on the FTs too, but 8-10 on 2s, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks isn't bad.

Dain had similar #s against MSU last season that basically won us that game. Overall, this season, Dain is shooting 71% on FGs (all 2s). That's 11% than anyone else on the team who has shot more than twice. Next is Rodgers at 60%. This is almost the same as last season when Dain shot 64% on FG and Rogers shot 52% on FG. So, when other guys are missing many FGs (like CH, QG, JH, who all shooting under 33% this season), then ask yourself whether Dain should be in there helping us (when he shoots over twice that percentage).

If Nico is 80% of the player Davide was at TTU he will be awesome.

It doesn't seem like Brad trusts him yet but he would be the perfect type of Paxson/Kerr type of pg for this team that doesn't need the ball that often but can knock down 3's and keep the ball moving.

I'd like to see Goode be given the green light to shoot in rhythm.

Think these other sharp shooters you've seen in the B1G recently. (Normally lighter skinned dudes like him, for whatever reason.)

His stroke is excellent. If he's feeling at all, let it fly. If they are going to shoot 3's, then he should get up 10 a game.

Curious as to how you came up with this assessment and “comp.”. Best I can tell he’s 0-1 from 3 and that came in an exhibition game. Is this based on his brother’s play?

I have never seen his brother play, but are they similar players at all? His bro is listed at 6'3 and seemed to be a shooter....3s and FTs were really, really good. He never averaged many assists, which Nico seems like would be a strength for him.

I hope Nico turns into a really, really good player for us. He truly looks like he could be a really good point, offensively at least.

Overall I just can’t wait to see this team hit its stride.

@illini0440 heres the offensive breakdown I wasn’t in the head space to give last game.

There’s a lot of flashes, even if the final product doesn’t always show it. For the most part I feel like our shot selection is about 1000x better than last year, and our offense looks like it will have good flow, we just need more in game reps to see and react to how teams will guard us. I’m a big fan of our point entries and split screen action (Princeton style stuff), and they way we move into DHOs, P/Rs and zoom reads from there. The defense has to make a lot reads and choices back to back to back, and the more you get them moving and thinking, the more they are likely to break down.

The other good news imo is that this is basic stuff a lot teams are doing these days, and we’ve kept it pretty vanilla to open the season. There are natural counters and stuff built into the option reads, but we haven’t seen a whole lot of quick hitters or what I’d think are called counter plays. We seem to be invested in building our offensive foundation in real games and then expanding from there. To me that’s a great long term approach.

Already cancelled. I paused it to take a bathroom break and grab another beer with 3 minutes to go. Came back and could not get the stream back, game had ended.
Having a similar problem on my IPad. Have to uninstall than reinstall. Isn't necessary if you go back to home page before leaving site.

Love Dain, but he hung on the rim and kicked out his legs to wrap his leg around dudes head. What constitutes a technical? A full tea bagging?
Wraps his legs around dude’s head is a bit of an exaggeration. There were a lot of people around the rim. His legs were going to swing and someone was going to be there.
