Their comments about Purdue's postgame press conference made me go back and watch that. Less than four minutes. In all of three of our losses, the players talked more than that. They also were not short with the media like Cluff and especially TKR were. All in all, it's a really bad look for Purdue, which is a little surprising given how respectful Painter is.

This is the best performance by an Illini ever. 46 points on 17 shots against the #4 team in the country on the road in maybe the most difficult arena to play in the country in a win.

I’m going to keep it to non March Madness games to keep it apples to apples (having a big Final Four game even if statistically less impressive might be a better performance). Wagler’s game is not just the best Illini performance ever it is on a short list of greatest college performances ever.

I’m pretty sure no one has ever beat a top 5 team while scoring 46 or more (on 17 shots) ever. Has anyone ever even done that against a top 10 team? Top 20?

I think you can compare his scoring efficiency in this game to any performance in the modern era of basketball in general. College or not. 46 points on 17 shots is just insane

Basically just goes from them calling the game live for a while after the game (before Fasteners post game show).

You can use the radio link that Dan posts in the game room chat. It is in the first post. You can also see live game stats which is always a minute or so live before the radio or tv call.

TKR is a punk through and through with a lengthy history of borderline dirty play , IMHO.......He showed his poor character nature throughout this presser........

mature players give credit to opponents great 46 point games.....he looked like he wanted to have a temper tantrum....

On Purdue guy got skewered for saying that if BAM played, they win. BAM's defense would have been great to have, but would we have made that final stretch of four threes in a row if BAM was in? Weren't those looks a function of having five really good three-point shooters on the floor? I LOVE me some BAM, but I'm not sure we get those same looks if he's one of the five on the floor at that point. (If BAM's three point percentage is higher than (or even within a few points of) one of the five who were on the court at that time, then my doubt is removed, but I wouldn't have had the same confidence in BAM taking one of those shots.)

I noticed that as well. The Big Ten’s toughest road environment, and Underwood trusted his freshman to be the primary ball handlers. That takes some kahunas to do that.

Actually you'd have BAM in there for Andrej for defense and BAM's 3pt% is 31 to Andrej's 26.

Right, there was no reason for Andrej to go airborne there. Just put a hand in his face and tip your cap if he makes it.

There was a similar play with Tomi where he went airborne earlier and came down bracing his fall on the guy, who promptly jumped and got a foul call and an easy two. If you're going to do that, at least get your hands on his arms so he can't make the shot.

I think the other thing you have to consider though is does Smith have as good a game as he did? BAM would have been on him most of the game, and his defense is pretty damn good. Wagler might not have gotten his if BAM was in, but I'm not sure Smith does, either.

Wow. Why bother sending Cluff and TKR to the press. The Purdue press are fawning types, but that would irritate me as a writer. At least Smith had some thought behind his answers, although they were largely meh answers.

TKR has exhibited serious attitude lately. There seems to be some friction in that locker room.

Personally, I had no problems with his aggressiveness there. Smith was hot, he was the only thing keeping Purdue in the game, chances were pretty good he makes that. The foul was hard enough that the shot was not going in. It broke up his rhythm and, ultimately, he missed 1 free throw. I'll take 2 instead of 3 anytime in that situation. Not to mention it gave some of the guys a bit of a breather. I would much rather have my defender more aggressive in that situation, given the heater Smith was on.

I noticed it, too. Keaton seemed, understandably, gassed. The fact that Mirk, with a gimpy ankle and having battled with a mouthy TKR the whole afternoon, took the dribbling load off of him to conserve his energy for moving and shooting in the half-court, was something.

Mirk's a freakin' grown-a$$ man, tough as nails, and a complete team player. Just loved it. Every single inbounding from the Purdue baseline in the final five minutes my O&B heart swelled. It was like Mirk said to Keaton: "I got you brother; I'll take it up."
