I couldnt agree more! That is bad and needs to be addressed. Big Z is my current favorite player on the court this season and he has issues that need to be addressed, but still gets more playing time. I think Plummer also played bc of the team’s need for his shooting.

On the flip side, I’d say they knew they were recruiting a pro and many pros even international have that immature aspect to their game. The staff is still responsible for grooming and developing him to the Big 10 and college basketball so the team can be its best.
This is where I’m at on the subject. I’m not blind; Keaton is head and shoulders better than him, but Brad is pulling a Lou Do and yanking him as soon as he screws up. That’s not how you develop players and there will come a time later this season when the guys are all worn down that we wished Petrovic was brought along more earlier in the season.

What’s the deal with not playing Mihailo? Have no idea why we spent money on this kid if we’re not going to play him.
This ridiculous perspective getting thrown around all throughout the fanbase. What you spent, who you paid.... that's offseason talk. It stays in the offseason.

In mid-January, you play the guys that give you the best chance to win. That's not Petro at the moment. He had a horrible defensive mistake (Mirk was pretty irate, so was Brad) and missed both his shots. He's also not a plus shooter, and you're not taking the ball out of Keaton's hands.

I'll take 13/7/8 to 0 TOs any day from my point guard in a blowout win.

I think Tomi looks more and more comfortable. 9pts, 7reb.

Z with 2 blocks in 9 minutes. His block rate continues to skyrocket.

Mirk is just relentless on the glass every game. When Morez left, we questioned who would take on the rebounding. Mirk has more than been that answer. 15&9 today.

Story of the night: Andrej. 30pts, 9/18 FG, 8/8 FT, 4/7 from deep, 0 TOs. I thought his defense on Coit was just as good as his offense. I've pointed out him having a negative assist to turnover on the season.... he has ZERO TOs in the last two games.

15 offensive rebounds as a team. 32 OREBs over the last two games. We are just relentless in that aspect.
I’d like to add Andrej rebounding has really found a nice groove. The scoring is great but he is consistently getting after it on the glass as well which shouldn’t be overlooked.

OK, we went back to the hotel room and ordered tickets for the @UMD game, taking one our daughters and our Terp-in-law. My wife was really bummed that tonight was our last in-person game, so i went to SeatGeek and found some reasonably priced seats in the 100 level.

So we were at the football game vs UMD, then tonight’s game, and now March 8. Let’s make it a sweep.

Can't imagine how no one asked Brad about Big Z acting like a clown tonight.

This is literally Keaton’s assist to turnover ratio thru 19 games:

We had already been owning scUM by that point. Maryland is a completely different beast. Brad was 3-8 against them before tonight. We had lost 2 in a row to them. This is much more significant, IMO.
Not even close. That was a top 5 Michigan team on the road and we absolutely stomped them without Ayo. Maryland is terrible this year. That Michigan game was far more impressive.

Don’t think people realize how incredible that is, especially for a freshman PG.
Just for context, here’s some of my previous posts breaking this down:

A few more pointers on this:

— Jake Davis has a 4.5 ratio and Ben has a 5.0 ratio. They don’t have the ball in their hands nearly as much (15 assists, 3 TOs for Ben; 9 assists, 2 TOs for Davis), but still pretty impressive. Both one of the tops in the country.

— Kylan has a pretty impressive ratio himself as well at 2.54. Last season he was at 1.60.

Our team (so far) has been very good at taking care of the ball.

Good game tonight. Great win. Let's do it again on Saturday.
Will Andrej be as effective on Branden as he was on Diggy?
Having watched Smith play in B1G games for 11 years, I am uncertain if we can slow him down. The little curl move he does in P and R requires some speed to stay up with him....speed we don't have. And if you let the big guarding the screener flash out to stop him, the roller will eat you alive. If not, he hits a 15 footer which he makes about 80% of the time...or finds Loyer if you sag off him to contest Smith. They do those things as well as any team in college hoops. I am not sure Boz could have been effective. He would fight through the screen faster but would still trail Smith who takes it to the rim for a layup quite often. If Loyer and Smith shoot from the arc as they did in LA, then the Illini will take them to the wire. If they are on, the game could get ugly unless we are hot too.

To me, the big factor is that Purdue seldom plays poorly in Mackey and that place should be as wild as ever. But who knows?

Does anyone know for certain whether or not a kid can sign a 12 year contract to play college ball? And I do know for certain that Smith has played for Purdue for 11 seasons including this one.

My opinion is based on importance, not impressiveness. A loss to Maryland here would have been an absolute disaster when it comes to seeding. That scUM game wouldn't have changed much...

I respect your opinion, but I don’t think it’s ridiculous at all to think that it’s happening; I believe it’s rather naive to think it’s not going on all across college basketball and football. This is basically pro sports, having general managers should be the tell tale sign. Now, I hope it’s a team rule that contracts etc aren’t discussed by the players/team during the season, as you suggest. You better rest assure parents, agents, and “so called agents” are having the discussion during the season with the athletes, other handlers, or GMs. The Morez situation didn’t develop out of left field on his camp’s side.

The ball doesn’t necessarily have to come out of Keaton hands. Additionallly, he can be moved to the 2/3 or just off ball like the in the Minny game when Petro, Boswell, and Keaton were on the floor at the same time. As Combo mentioned, he one of our best shooters. He hit a wide open 3 and got down hill to the rim from Petro’s penetration. He had less iso to do when Petro created the opportunities.
