That's the right answer, but Gonzaga, because of the name, won't get jumped unless they lose. I think it's #7. Iowa State absolutely dismantled two conference appointments, albeit not very strong ones. Hard to drop them after a dominant week.

I'm hoping that the 2 big road wins in an 8 day stretch turn some heads and perhaps buy an extra spot. No team can boast 2 quality wins like that this year on the road. Then again, it's the AP...so probably not.

When looking at the voters by poll, we can start to figure out where we might be by looking at the voters who had us lower than our real rank (9). As well as where they put teams that lost this week, ahead of us.

42 of 60 voters had us ranked 9 or better in last weeks poll.

Dave Preston had us 10th with BYU, MSU & Nebraska in front of us. His new rank should be 7th.

Dave Borges had us 10th, same 3 teams in front of us, our new rank should be 7th.

David Jablonski, 10th should now be 8th

Geoff Grammer: 10->8

Justin Jackson: 10->8

Kevin Mcnarma: 10->8

Matt Young: 10->8

Parth Upadhyaya: 10->7

Randy Heitz: 10->8

Andrew Quinn: 11-> 8

Brice Cherry: 11->9

Chris Murray: 11->8

Chris Lea: 11->7

Percy Allen: 11->8

Tony Paul: 11->8

Andy Greder: 12->8

Jon Johnson: 12->8

John Wilner: 12->8

And that’s given everyone pays attention (which, we know they all don’t) and we jump the teams those voters had in front of us who lost (BYU, MSU, Nebraska, Texas Tech)

That’s a total of 43 points. The 6-9 ranked teams in last week’s poll were separated by 37 points total.

I’m not going to list off everyone that had teams in front of us who lost who also had us ranked 9th or better.. but the added votes would be +60 points. With our highest vote being 5th.

That would put us at 1,157 total points. Which would have had us 6th in last weeks poll.

So I’ll guess 6th.

They will definitely rank us below Iowa State and Gonzaga, because “they didn’t lose” against crap teams

Thanks!

This also doesn’t account for some voters who may ranked us ahead of a team like Gonzaga, who didn’t lose- but looked shaky against inferior competition, compared to us winning @#5. I’d put the odds at 90% likelihood we land at #6 with a 10% chance we land at #5.

I watched Gonzaga last night and if Illini get a one seed I hope the zags are in our bracket.

remember they're missing braden huff right now
I am not too scared of Huff, he couldn't get 2 minutes of a lion at Duke for two years. He might be improving at Gonzaga like DGL at Vegas with lower competition.

At some point I think they should have to take into account our sos and the gravity of or big wins on the road and no bad losses. We should be top 5 but pretty sure they will have us between 6-8.

At some point Illinois gets rewarded for beating ranked conference opponents and jumps Gonzaga right? They haven’t beaten anyone good this year.

Their win against Bama is looking worse and worse, which I know hurts us.

They beat Creighton and Kentucky who aren’t good. And they got dog-walked by Michigan (pun intended)

They are missing a key player but so are we.

I think we get to #6
