Arkansas Coach John Calipari Reacts to Illinois Basketball's Win
The Razorbacks' coach had plenty to say about the Illini and their 90-77 win: 'They took it to us'
Tre is better than what he's shown so far. I expect him to get going soon.
Kasparas Jakucionis.
Alpha.
Happy Turkey Day all!
Nobody is ditching PnR and trap or hard hedge won't solve their problems. It's just obvious Arkansas wasn't prepared for our 5 out PnR in the first five minutes. Now other opponents will see it coming so we won't average 48% 3ptp.

Momma knows best!Going off of this, I think Riley's situation will be one to watch this offseason. Likely in the 20-30 range in the draft. Could come back and put on muscle and go top 10 in a weaker draft the year following. I know that is what mom would prefer.
Agree with this but it feels like it all goes out the window with NIL. If players can make more somewhere else going to be much harder to retain guys to develop. This is where you're annoying. You state your opinions as facts far too often.
Ayo stayed and developed over 3 seasons. Hawkins stayed here 4. Frazier and Williams, while not Brad's recruits, stayed here under him and developed. There is evidence of players staying and developing. People can be excited for this year while looking forward to next year and you telling them that they can't do that because there is no evidence it will happen is obnoxious AF.

Yeah, I think he will play himself into a lottery pick. Time will tell. Can’t see Ivisic back next year. Would seem like a very high draft pick to me. Size, shooting. IQ and underrated defense. Arguably MVP at this point.
If true, that means we have a very very fun season ahead. It is looking likely that Jakucionis, Ivisic and Riley all are gone at end the season and all will play in NBA.
On that Piper and LaTulip video after the Arkansas game, LaTulip said this year’s Illini team is already better defensively than last year’s team. I know we trailed off at the end of the season defensively but this is good news to hear. The sky’s the limit w us this season.I was curious to see if our defense could match up against a P5 program and they did. Obviously we have things to work in, but it's really encouraging to see us be able to play at this level as early as we did.
If I saw him with Louisville, it was brief and in passing. So this recollection is based on his time with USC in year 1. Active in paint/down low. Good spot up shooter (2s). Moved well without basketball getting him points. Can shoot the 3, but overall not his game and like many much better spotting up rather than off dribble. What does Tre look like when he gets going? I didn't watch Louisville last year (can you blame me?)

I’d guess I saw him in a half dozen games and what always stood out to me was his activity on offense — moving and cutting, getting into lane. I wonder if he’s not having some trouble finding ways to use his strengths within the offense. Sometimes almost seems tentative in his movement like he’s worried he’ll get in the way of offense.
I never thought he was going to be huge scorer with Illini this year. I always figured he’d be in that 8-12 point range (with a few games in mid- high-teens), 5-8 rpg, and solid to good D. Outside of the Arkansas game, he’s been at the low end of those ranges. I think he was averaging 8.8 ppg and 6 rpg. Consistency hasn’t been there though.
I still think there will be some games when he plays a huge role in victory. I also expect him to be maligned some all season cuz he ain’t Riley and won’t put up those kind of offensive numbers — and some people can’t figure out Riley doesn’t need to start to play starter minutes. But there is a reason BU is starting him, and that’s good enough for me.
There are at least two problems with this lineup. First, BU's basic defensive strategy is to prevent the three. Running two rim protectors leaves KJ, Kylan and Will to cover the three. Someone is always going to be open. More important, Morez and Tomi sub for each other. If you have to sub for both at once, you are going to have Hum and Booth imitating bigs for substantial parts of the game. I am not sure that is good for offense or defense. Our best lineup is
KJ
Kylan
Will
Morez
Tomi
At some point we should just start that lineup. We don’t need Ben’s shooting as much with Riley on the floor and we don’t need Tre’s rebounding
with Morez on the floor- this 5 is our best complement of offense, defense and rebounding

The proposal was to make them our starting lineup. I agree that there are times when the two of them look mighty good together.Except he's been using this lineup the last couple of games. Morez is mobile enough to be able to cover most 4 guys on the perimeter. Obviously it's going be matchup dependent and probably not used when a team is running a small lineup but we are definitely going to keep seeing Morez and Tomi out there together.
It seems like these guys really enjoy playing together and have bonded quickly. Is that accurate from your take?Going off of this, I think Riley's situation will be one to watch this offseason.
