another week off shows up again, sloppy passing, ball handling. I love Mirk but he cannot handle the ball. Petrovic will see a lot of bench from now on. It just appeared to me the Illini went through the motions against an inferior team. Time to wakeup and bring intensity EVERY NIGHT FROM HERE ON OUT!

They won by 35 and covered in buy game on a Monday afternoon. I think that was a good outing all things considered.

Wait, what?

Even if we call this game a little sloppy, after our last week off, we beat a high major team by 43 in what was arguably our most efficient game of the season.

That was about as coasty of a win they've had all year, and the minutes were spread around.

They won the B1G-SWAC challenge trophy, now gotta come up with a new one for Saturday's game.

If we can stop talking about The PG We Don't Really Need To See for a minute and focus.....

We just held their leading scorer and potential SWAC scoring champ to his lowest point total of the year.

You know...The Guy That Has A Career Game Versus Illinois.

That's the takeaway from this game. That's it.

Can people PLEASE stop calling for Petro to play more? I hope he becomes a great PG for Illinois some day but right now on this team he doesn’t belong out there in competitive games.
I've been calling for it because if he isn't good enough they need to show it in the games that don't count or every slovinian/serbian in the pipeline is gonna think he got benched for personality differences.

He turns the ball over too much, he is shorter than advertised, and his defense isn't good enough. He does show flashes of greatness. He is the quickest player on the team by a lot. He reminds me of Curbelo, which didn't end well. I think this game was likely enough evidence that he isn't quite good enough to get extended minutes aside from filling in when there is an injury.

I’d say that’s an accurate takeaway. I don’t get the Monday afternoon stuff. That should be of little consequence to a locked in team.

Illinois fans in a nutshell….41% from three…we should drive more.

Game where we drive the ball….we should’ve shot more 3s….

Gonna have a top 15 pick….we should play Petrovic more.
Mostly true. I will say though that I wanted to see more of Petrovic today, not because I think he is better than Wagler, but because I wanted to see a glimmer of hope for future contribution. Alas, that glimmer has faded.

At least I got the 35 point margin right ;). I believe that also answers any questions about *UW*

For a 45pt win in a game that was literally never competitive :rolleyes::rolleyes:

@illini0440 Regarding NIL for someone like Wagler…do coaches (football/basketball) adjust NIL if a player breaks out like this? Like, I kind of assume he wasn’t getting a ton just based on recruiting rankings…but based on where he is now do they find ways to increase the NIL he’s getting? What’s the standard for something like this?

Gotta consider the source of the message. True to form
