It wouldn't matter if Wagler happened to be just a slightly above average frosh. Petro has demonstrated he just isn't cut out for the level of basketball our team is aspiring to play. He doesn't have the mentality or the energy required. If Wagler weren't as amazing as he is, Lee would earn minutes before Petro. Mihailo's casual turnover followed by the loafing back on D in the first half pretty much cemented it for me, and judging by Brad's quick yank after that play, I think that pretty much did it for our coaching staff as well. I wish Petro nothing but the best from here, but I don't think we're going to see much more of him playing any meaningful minutes as an Illini.Well, I hope you enjoyed those Petro minutes because the B1G season isn't gonna have much for him I'm afraid.
Wagler deciding to be the B1G FOY Lottery pick with a dash of best 6'6" PG that can play a turnover and foul free 39 mpg left Petro out in the cold.
Nobody saw that coming.
