Well, I hope you enjoyed those Petro minutes because the B1G season isn't gonna have much for him I'm afraid.

Wagler deciding to be the B1G FOY Lottery pick with a dash of best 6'6" PG that can play a turnover and foul free 39 mpg left Petro out in the cold.
Nobody saw that coming.

Wonder how Petro is handling it. He got a few minutes, but didn't look too good (or bad for that matter). He's far down the rotation the way the rest of the guards are playing.

Most of our turnovers came from over dribbling which we have done frequently. Pass the ball and move without the ball. From now on execution is crucial.

I think it just means Jake gets more minutes at a so called guard position? Both KB and KW can play point, we are fine even if we need a little Lee just for toughness? I think today showed Petro just is not ready at this point? He won’t be getting much time going forward I would think?
Agree. And Jake is showing he can contribute in a number of ways. My point before was just that we have two players that can play PG at a high level. That's a pretty good situation to be in. It would be great if Petro could be a reliable third PG but that would be an extreme luxury. It's getting really greedy to call that a "gap" in our guard situation.

He isn't making a great case for more minutes, especially in light of Lee's defense. I'd love for Petro to pan out but if he is a miss this year, we have options. He's getting paid regardless, which I'm sure is why he is still here.

So far KW and KB are each averaging about 31.5 mpg. That's not that crazy. KJ averaged a little more than that last year and KB was at 31 even. In 2021-22 Trent averaged almost 35 a game. Ayo averaged 31.5 his freshman year, then 33.5, then 35.1.
Not just about minutes, especially in Big Ten play.

Also, it isn’t about what is possible versus not. We want to go deep in the tournament with this squad. We aren’t getting them back so having that piece to spell the key personnel while preparing to step up next year is the point.

Just a bit disappointed in how Petro seized his opportunity.

Illinois fans in a nutshell….41% from three…we should drive more.

Game where we drive the ball….we should’ve shot more 3s….

Gonna have a top 15 pick….we should play Petrovic more.
A lot of us have learned to ignore those people. It would do you good to join us. I know it's tough, but... let it go.

Odd time for a game. Crowd bleh. Etc. They are human beings. No one is 100% locked in 100% of the time. Besides I’d say they were pretty locked in.
I didn’t say or imply that they weren’t locked in for the most part… See the first line of my post.

Complaining about/blaming odd game times and underwhelming crowds is weak sauce. Sorry.

The best sequence of the game IMO:

Mirk screws up.
At the timeout that followed BU stares him down all the way to the bench; yells a few choice words at him and then turns to talk to someone else.
Mirk, with a bewildered look turns to KB. "What did I do?" (lip reading)
KB explains it to him, and then answers a question about his explanation.
Mirk turns to BU and seems to say "but what about ...."
BU "Doesn't matter." (lip reading)
Mirk but ...
BU "Doesn't matter." (lip reading)
Mirk Nods his head, says "okay" and moves on. Perfectly calm.

I've been all over Mirk for bonehead plays and careless dribbling. This sequence gives me some hope. He appears coachable. It also demonstrates that KB both understands what is going and the standing in the team to be the goto person for help.

Not much to take away from this people. We handled our business and gave good effort, that’s what matters.

Offense definitely wasn’t perfect, but I’m not sure we can expect it to be at this point with our current staff/scheme. Our best nights will come from good defense and low turnovers, as long as we aren’t ice cold from deep.

The road to 15-4 before Purdue marches on.

I'll play along. I missed the game entirely. But, I am sure there are things that many think "should" piss me off. Thanks for sharing :giggle: My 2 cents: Jake Davis didn't get a single rebound.
Going 5-6 from 3 gives you all of the leverage in the world. If only Ben could channel that with his overall effort...

Only somewhat /s

What does this mean? We racked up 1.452 points per possession. That is elite. We have the #2 offense in the country. So what exactly is wrong with the staff/scheme on offense?

i'm guessing OP is talking about the turnovers. 1.452 is still pretty elite despite the turnovers
