BU derserves SO much credit for letting RJ get back on track. So many coaches would have buried that kid on the bench.

The recipe to playing time under Brad Underwood is really pretty simple. Defend, rebound and hustle. RJ has always done all 3 of those things. As long as the kid’s fighting through screens like he did tonight, you’re not going to keep him on the bench. There’s something poetic about how the points seem to just come when you make winning plays on the other end of the floor.

Can't believe I haven't seen this one in here yet. It's getting a workout this season.

I don’t think you all realize what we have Ty Rodgers. Future STAR.
I believe during one of the early nonconforming schedule, I thought to myself he was going to be my favorite freshman by year end and I think so far it's true. To see hows he adjusted and grown into a b10 play over just this season is incredible. Can't wait to see what the future brings for him.

RJ fought through a very long and tough stretch, kept chipping away, and justified Brad's confidence in him. Best game of his season. He represents the Fight in Fighting Illini, as do several of his teammates. Love what we are getting from him now.
how many times did we here BU say, "I want him to take that shot"? stuck with the kid and RJ kept playing hard D. Some great drives to the bucket, crucial 3 and some nice passing. Real team effort tonight.

What a game!!! So happy with the effort, the intensity, the not settling for threes (maybe some of that in OT but the players looked gassed).

All that being said, this was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. The goaltending on Hawkins that wasn't, the play where it went out on Michigan but they gave them the ball, the play where Hawkins got called for the foul when the UM player went elbows-first into him... the drama queen FLOP by Dickinson that came straight out of a soccer game. The play where Shannon got whacked in the head on a layup and no call??? Ugh, that was so frustrating.
This is a good start but I feel like there was even more. My god.
