Missouri did not bring their A game, but that was an impressive win nonetheless.

It looked like a different defensive team compared to Nebraska. What changed over the week? Was it just better effort and intensity? Or were there defensive scheme adjustments? Does anyone have any insight?
MisSOURi doesn't have an A game to bring.
The Illini does and it's starting to shine.
Oh what difference a week of practice and a hoarse Brad and staff makes.

Now Misery fans want to hire Brad or Hurley. lol.

First Missouri loses another professional football team, and then their state university loses by 43 to their biggest rival. Hey Missouri residents…

Rough history for the Show Me State. They lose the Browns. They lose the Athletics. They lose the Hawks. They lose the Spirits. They lose the Cardinals. They lose the Rams. They lose the Chiefs. They lose the ("KC-O") Kings. They lose the Scouts. They VERY NEARLY lost the Blues to Canada in the 1980s. They lost TWA (oh wait, that's an airline). And now they lose The Bragging Rights Game for another season.

You almost have to feel sorry for Missouri. Remember... I said... ALMOST.

Missouri wasn't burying contested threes at a ridiculous rate. Nebraska did. It happens. A team can go on a heater and it's no fun if it happens against us.

I think there was a huge overreaction against Nebraska, much like we're not 43 points better than Mizzou. We're definitely the better team and would win 9 of 10 (7 of 10 if they were fully healthy).....what we dropped on them last night was ridiculous.

It all balances out in the end.

Agreed on the shooting, and have stated numerous times, was very surprised by the overreactions. The complete swath of doomsayers for a buzzer beater loss to a T25 team.... never made much sense to me.

However, I do believe that result culminated in coming out with more urgency defensively. We undoubtedly looked more focused and energized, with fewer breakdowns. Throw in the extra practice time, some of the guys Mizzou had out... we were essentially never losing that game.

There will be a game where Wagler is in foul trouble where Petro needs to come in and do his thing. He's just blocked right now because KW and KB are better defensively and even Lee can be a pest on the defensive side. The offense runs through KW, gotta keep him on the floor.

Guys, here are Wagler’s stats compared to rest of the team:

- Tied for team lead in offensive rebounds, second in assists (40; one behind Boswell’s 41)
- Leads team in points, minutes, steals, 3pt%, 3ptA, FT%, FTA.
- Has a 2.5 to 1 assist to turnover ratio.
Not saying this is bound to continue, but to acknowledge how incredible a feat that is -

KJ last year: 1.268
Ayo his final season: 1.58
Frank Williams his final season: 1.59
Dee Brown his final season: 2.03
Deron Williams in 04-05: 2.42 (ridiculous)

Another Wagler stat I found… leaders in Illinois all time Box +/- (granted only seems to track from 2010-2011)

The announcer saying he believes Missouri will get back into the game at halftime. Oops

This Braggin Rights was the 30something'th time for me. The 2 major takeaways for me was 1. Wagler played far beyond his age. IMO, maybe his best trait is that he sometimes gets himself in a bad spot, but never gets shaken, and almost never gives the ball up, and 2. When Big Z came in, he just took over the game on defense. With his first 2 blocks, he destroyed what Mizzou was trying to do, and they either stayed away from shots in the paint, or took them like it might get blocked. I would still like to see 5-10" of twin towers, just to see what that would look like.
