We could've easily set the all time home beat down record on the clowns, but Brad called the dogs off early. Great culture move considering the late game festivities. 60 in one half says it all.
To put it in perspective, here are the highest scoring NCAA tournament games ever.

Only once has a team averaged more then 59 points a half vs an NCAA tournament quality team.
We got one half of that tonight. Let's see what happens with two.
Every day guys with NBA talent and an amazing staff is a blessing.

I am sure Luke is "good kid". Yeah, he kept us in a couple games during his 3 years here, but bye and large he consistently under-delivered.

He was a weak link on D that got exploited and wasn't anywhere near the "elite" sharp shooter. Countless missed wide open 3's that could have swung momentum for us while he was here and then typically would get a foul shortly thereafter because he got beat on D.

Ben is a an upgrade and J Davis probably is as well.

So that if that is me doing me, I'm "goode" with that 😜

How can you miss a 3...and then get bootied by Ben? :ROFLMAO:

My only issue with Goode while he was here was that he didn't quite live up to his potential and I wished for his stardom. He played hard and was a solid player for us. No complaints. If anyone doesn't think Goode made us better while he was here, then they weren't watching or looking with beer googles on.

As much as I don’t like KJ sitting last game, it sends a good message to our friends overseas that we’re looking out for their young men and their long-term careers. Building trust in those relationships is more important.
Can confirm that these sort of things don't go unnoticed. It's a common thing for young European players to ask the their fellow Euro peers who are alumni about the schools. Saint Mary's is a good example I think. Marciulionis was the first Lithuanian who went there just a few years ago, then he convinced Murauskas to transfer there, and now another big Lithuanian talent Juzenas also has committed to Saint Mary's. :)

Great bounce back win. KJ makes such a big difference. Let's get another one Sunday.

Would really like to see us start to develop some consistency going forward. We let our foot off the gas way too often, but I guess that's human nature when you're up 30.
Best I can do is wildly different levels of effort that can make us look unbeatable some nights and hopeless on others.

I am not going to pat these guys on the back yet. They played a great 1st half thanks to probably an !!! chewing by Brad. If you look at the 2nd half, it wasn't great. The Illini shot just 28% 9 for 32, 3/13 from 3, were outscored 37-34. Ivisic scored 2 points, KJ sat on the bench with 4 fouls and scored just 2 points. Tre had an off night. It was KB, Dra and Ben who battled the Hoosiers in the 2nd half. The Illini was able to withstand a struggling Hoosier team at the foul line and Boz who put this team on HIS back down the stretch.
This game is what they should have done to SC. Instead they slept in on a Saturday morning.
I am not going to pat them on the back because they haven't shown they can put together back-to-back games against top competition. Maybe Brad should chew their butts again on the poor effort in the 2nd half of this game.
If they don't bring a full effort for 40 MINUTES in East Lansing MSU will bury them. Then and only then will I pat them on the back.
Which team will we see on Sunday? The one in the SC game and the 2nd half team tonight or the team we saw in Oregon, PSU and the first half of this game?

Does Brad keep 'USC 82 - ILL 72' in his backpocket all year or is that old school? I think if will be interesting to see where the psyche of this team goes. They have the talent, system and results that say they are elite. How elite? Who knows.
I doubt it. In the presser he talked about how the team knew they hadn’t played the right way (or something similar). Emphasis wasn’t so much on poor performance overall but that they didn’t do the things they need to in order to win.

Now some people on here will keep it in their back pockets, and bring it back with any kind of poor performance. Heck, I think someone did in this thread because of a bad 4-minute stretch. Not sure why, but the USC game really irked me — not the performance/effort of the team but the reaction some people on this forum after the game. No one should have been happy with the USC, but many of the hot takes were ridiculous. And it’s likely most of those people are now posting how good the team is. The board being the board I guess.

Didn't you predict we would get beat and put up a poor performance in this one? I know you've been a "fan" for a long time and seen some BAD Illinois stuff but enjoy the good times when they are here. This is the fun part.

Thank you for expounding on the very brief observation I made 13 pages ago.
