I think they were questioning why we would risk an injury to one of our key players when the game was essentially over.
10 players for Illinois got significant minutes. only Booth and Redd did not. What did Hummel want?

The whole announcer narrative was just wrong. I normally think Hummel is fair too. He had an off night watching a team from Illinois destroy a team from Indiana.

Dude wore the O&B and did it proud. Worked his a$$ off for Brad from what I could tell. He played hard this evening, too. I won't say a negative word about the young man. I wish him success.

Yup and my feelings are complex enough I can hate the guy for 2 hours while we play against him, and then go back to liking him after. Two minutes after the little scuffle and I already started liking him again. Helps we kicked his !!! I guess, probably wouldn't like him as much if we lost lol.

Freshman? I would argue that he is the most talented player to ever wear an Illini basketball uniform. I have watched for a lot of years but this is impressive stuff. He is controlling games and has everyone else on a string....
I don’t even think it is a question at this point. Very hard to put him above Dee, Deron, Kenny, Nick, Deon, ect but…. I don’t know the highest drafted Illini player ever, but KJ goes 3-5? That is pretty rare. If he was here for more than one year (all of the greats at Illinois did stay more than a year) he would be unreal.

In the end, he is probably the best player ever to play at Illinois? Simply crazy to even think that is a question?

I thought I heard a very faint ILL chant at the end of the game but there were definitely "Fire Woodson" chants. I wonder if they have a post conference to schedule now or after the next few games?

Just one criticism from Mr. Blackwell here:

Illini, your panty hose/leggings/whatever should be navy blue, not black. Memo to KJ: You play fantastic, but look super fantastic! Proper color coordination, orange and blue. Your hair color is fine.

Thanks for the homework. So if he goes in the top 3 that is as good as we have ever had. That would be with one year of college, Deron played 3? It seems weird, but the kid is really that good.

Is the post game media room a closet with a folding table and chairs? I noticed in the celebration video their visitor locker room looked like a high school locker room as well.. Are their facilities really that far behind, I assumed with the money they throw around for an NIL budget they also took care of the other parts of the program as well???

Not allowed. Must be white, black, beige or the predominant color of the uniform, which was orange yesterday.

I went to the game; it was my first time at the wrong Assembly Hall in more than 30 years. The best thing about that place is the 5 banners hanging at the end of the court, that's it.

Nothing about going into that place is exciting. I entered the main gate on the west side and it feels like you're going in the backdoor of a high school. Dark, low ceilings, and you see the wall of a hallway as soon as you get in. The north and south lobbies are a bit more open, but still pretty closed off.

I sat in row 44 of the lower section at mid court and was claustrophobic due to the way the balcony hangs down in front of you. It's like you have to watch the game with tunnel vision. IU has added TV screens up there because any time ANYONE stands or raises their hands, you can't see anything and need to watch the TVs. Due to that weird shape, it can get LOUD in there, but not when the fans leave at halftime. :)

I was in college when Nick Anderson hit the shot at the buzzer to be IU in Bloomington, and wanted to look at the box score out of curiosity.

Look at the minutes the starters for BOTH teams got! Liberty had 4 fouls, otherwise the total non-starter minutes for both teams would have been about 30!

Compare that to our depth from last night's game (understanding that we probably got some more more tick due the blow out).

Kendall Gill’s injury also shortened the bench in that game.

I am not going to pat these guys on the back yet. They played a great 1st half thanks to probably an !!! chewing by Brad. If you look at the 2nd half, it wasn't great. The Illini shot just 28% 9 for 32, 3/13 from 3, were outscored in 37-34. Ivisic scored 2 points, KJ sat on the bench with 4 fouls and scored just 2 points. Tre had an off night. It was KB, Dra and Ben who battled the Hoosiers in the 2nd half. The Illini was able to withstand a struggling Hoosier team at the foul line and Boz who put this team on HIS back down the stretch.
This game is what they should have done to SC. Instead they slept in on a Saturday morning.
I am not going to pat them on the back because they haven't shown they can put together back-to-back games against top competition. Maybe Brad should chew their butts again on the poor effort in the 2nd half of this game.
If they don't bring a full effort for 40 MINUTES in East Lansing MSU will bury them. Then and only then will I pat them on the back.
Which team will we see on Sunday? The one in the SC game and the 2nd half team tonight or the team we saw in Oregon, PSU and the first half of this game?
