Luke was the only one on their team playing hard. Was he a little too aggressive at times, yeah but he brought some elements of a winning program that have been absent at IU for some time. I recall on the first possession of the game, there was a loose ball that he dove tat to collect, and it kept the ball alive enough for another IU player to have better positioning and caused Humrichous to foul that player. Is Luke sometimes a tad slower to spots and does he need to be a little more set to light it up from the outside - yes, but I don't think he's a player that deserves to bashed regardless of program affiliation.

Yeah, let's all be honest for a hot second. F#ck Indiana, and Luke is a Hoosier.
However, he's not a dirty player and he's very obviously smarter and more well spoken than his own head coach.

Guess who the only Hoosier with fight was last night?

A MF'ing Illini.

Yes, if I lift hard for three months and rarely pick up a ball during that time it would require a period of adjustment once I begin again to shoot everyday. But none of these guys do this. They play almost every day to some extent, even in the off-season (BTW, does an off-season exist anymore?) It's why this entire claim about lifting heavy disturbing the delicate calibration of shooting seems absolutely spurious.

I recall well lifting in HS and then going outside to shoot. Yes, my arms felt odd, of course, because I'd just finished taxing them heavily. Then after I recovered they felt fine when I shot.

See: Jim Rowinski... walk-on to BT MVP at Purdue in the '80s. (And an Illini bête noire back in the day. R.I.P.) The entire reason why he was able to make that leap is because he got strong as he!! during his four years there. I've said it previously and gotten absolutely dragged for it: our players need to be much stronger, if for no other reason than to injury-proof them. These guys are literally genetic freaks; their off-the-charts neuromuscular efficiency makes what they're leaving on the table in this area dismaying.

How does anyone listen to this show? lol Dakich segued from a rant about how players and coaches can't complain about the fans and say they are stupid, straight into another rant about how his listeners are stupid. Does he listen to himself? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Listening to Dakich’s rant makes me thankful that we have the stable of professional broadcasters — Tate, Werner, Piper, Sturdy, Steve Kelly, LaTulip, etc —that we do. Dakich is a knowledgeable guy, but his “hot take/sports shouting” style grows old extremely fast.

What I am surprised no one has mentioned is the total irony of his request that Indiana fans not "switch sides" as a result of this game. Unless Luke said something like this twice, that quote is wrong. It makes it sound like Luke was saying “don’t go anywhere. We’re gonna be good, I promise.” But listening to the actual verbatim quote on the Dackich show, Luke essentially said “If you were one of the fans who booed, don’t come back when we get good.” That’s the quote Dackich is upset about.

This game is what they should have done to SC. Instead they slept in on a Saturday morning.
I am not going to pat them on the back because they haven't shown they can put together back-to-back games against top competition. Maybe Brad should chew their butts again on the poor effort in the 2nd half of this game.
If they don't bring a full effort for 40 MINUTES in East Lansing MSU will bury them. Then and only then will I pat them on the back.
Which team will we see on Sunday? The one in the SC game and the 2nd half team tonight or the team we saw in Oregon, PSU and the first half of this game?

He graduated early and went to a school with strong ties to his family. I can't blame him for that.

Goode is an Indiana kid who wanted to go to Indiana (like his family members) or Purdue; he wasn't pursued by either coming out of high school. So, because he was fortunate enough to have basketball talent, he went where he was wanted and could develop. When he was no longer a good fit (since we had better talent coming in), he made another business decision to go where he'd make more money. That just happened to align with his childhood dreams.

It's like BB. He wanted to go to Illinois, but it was Iowa who offered him a spot. He took what he could get and went home eventually. I can't blame either guy for doing as much.

Isn't that primarily why he was removed from ESPN broadcasts. I typically enjoyed when he called a game, but this is the first time I have heard his name in a couple of years.

I could not watch the game last night and am just seeing the score now. After watching the game against USC Saturday, I could not be more surprised. KJ clearly is the rock.

My approach to scouting shooters would be more so whether or not they shoot them, and not so much what their percentages are. If a guy is 4 for 17 from three, (1) that's an awful small sample size to determine he isn't a threat out there, and (2) the attempts show he has a green light from coach to shoot them provided they are good shots.

3) wouldn’t rehire Sampson (reprobate) or Pearl. So not a winning is everything crowd. Somebody let me know once he weighs in on Beard.

4) still has Woodson > Archie. That seemed crazy to me, I didn’t realize how bad Archie Miller was at IU (never finished above .500 in conference or made the NCAA) and a complete lack of traction at Rhode Island.

Beard was associate head coach for Bob Knight for years. I have to believe he’s the front runner for the job. No way does Ole Miss pay up to keep him. And I think he’s the best possible candidate for them. The last two guys make Tom Crean look like John Wooden
