Illinois 98, Florida Atlantic 89 Postgame

Win, lose or draw, that was a fun game to watch. And no matter what the outcome was to be, it pretty much will help this team down the line. Fun team to watch for sure, but even after a sloppy start, this team is resilient and will never back down. So many options, so dangerous. Can’t wait til the next game.

In ‘The World’s Most Famous Arena’ – the Illini just proved that they are...

The READY-FOR-PRIME-TIME Players.

And some of The Beloved showed that they are ready to play again... and again... and again on that famous floor in years ahead.

Once again, the Illini grabbed a hold of the game and would not let it go. When they were challenged... they swatted the Opposition away like shooing a pesky fly.

This season is going to be FUN...

We just beat a really, really damn good basketball team. Hung 98 on a Final Four team.

Marcus Domask. What else can be said about him tonight? He was THAT dude. He was backing down FAU guys and showed no fear.

Terrence Shannon had 33 points....and still wasn't the best player on the floor. How scary is that?

Huge resume building win against a quality opponent on a neutral court

Didn’t think this was going to be high scoring after the first few minutes. Don’t think we can count on shooting 60% every night

Our scouting report going forward will be tough for teams. Who do you have to match up against TSJ or Domask? You take them out Hawkins and Goode have been known to go off

Team needs to focus for next game

LET’S GOOOOO!!!!! Man, this team is fun to root for…infinitely more than last year’s team.

* Domask is a straight dog! We haven’t had a guy who can get a bucket like him in I don’t know how long.

* Shannon is the best all around Illini player in a long time. I said what I said.

* Hawkins is a bipolar player - spectacular and then maddening.

* Great minutes from role players.

* Tremendous coaching. Just kept exploiting mismatches all night.

Shannon continues to play himself into the next level.

My favorite play: the bull rush drive for the throw down. Too much.
His free throws sealed the game, should be a training video for the importance of free throws in closely contested games. If you can’t hit 80%, you belong on the bench the last 3 minutes of a tight game.
