Sugar Grove
16-13 FAU at the 10 minute mark of the game. 85-73 Illini the last 30 minutes. Love the offensive flow after getting Vlad Goldin in foul trouble. Such an enjoyable team to watch.

63% shooting, 40% threes and 90% free throws. Very efficient offensive night! Win in Knoxville and this team will crack top 10.

UCLA/UT last year it felt everything went our way in the 2nd half and that was the best we could play. Against FAU it doesn’t seem like we were lucky. We played well and shot at a high percent but it didn’t seem forced or unrepeatable considering how well we played this year. We earned this victory and it was not given. I am not saying we can shoot like that every night but we outmatched them tonight

FAU big could have been fouled out earlier we couldn’t get redounds they hit crazy threes. Some calls went against us
Our starters including Domask and Shannon were 5-17 from 3. Harmon and Goode 3-3. 8-20. We shoot around 20 3's vs. 30...
We will win a ton of games shooting 2's.. our guards are huge and know how to get to the rim for great looks or a foul. Stick with what 💪 works.

Since nobody has said it yet, I want to give a round of applause to Amani. He only played 3 minutes, but those were some tough minutes where he pulled down some big rebounds, made a big bucket, and most importantly made sure FAU wasn't able to stretch their lead heading into halftime. For a freshman big to do that against a skilled team is tremendous. Amani is going to get some big minutes this year and he just passed his first major test. He's going to be a good one.
This ^^^ I noted in the postgame Rutgers thread that he looked lost and rattled on the floor at the RAC Saturday. Came in today and made a huge contribution. What's it say about his courage and tenacity, and BU's confidence in him. Future's bright for him.

Also, FAU looking at Marcus Domask all evening like:

I really liked how both TSJ and Domask were patient and understood what was working. Even though they kept hammering FAU it didn't feel forced, they just knew they couldn't be stopped

I loved Harmon's game tonight but I almost fainted out when he forced the drive and got blocked with 3min or so left...😄
I only recall one kind of silly heat check. Everything else was just easy and in flow. Beautiful to watch.

His rebounding numbers per 40 minutes are going to be real good. He has a nose for the ball. And he does the little things well on offense, too. Once he gets that defense clicking, watch out.
Agreed,I was confused by Dainja getting more minutes in 2nd half. Dainja seems to get lost easily on defense and Amani doesn't. Looking forward to both of them improving.

I feel like PSU fans last year when they had Pickett just back us into the paint every damn time. Bully ball.

Am I crazy that Domask has some Ray Rice to his game?

Shannon and Domask are a crazy 1-2 combo.

I kept thinking FAU would surely double Domask but then that would leave Goode open from 3 or Shannon to go downhill at the rim.

This was a masterful coaching job by Underwood.

Clearly they utilized their long break time well! They must have practiced free throws too!

7-15 without Hawkins included.

Limit the bad 3 pt shots, get Goode some spot up looks and let the rest shoot in rhythm and I think they can hit at a good clip.

Texas was Lucky last year, this was earned ILL 🔶🔷
This was what I was thinking. Last year's win over Texas required MM to make 5 or 6 step back 3s with a player in his face, something he was not capable of doing on any regular basis. Tonight was a team playing within itself. Both are great wins, but this year had a totally different feel to it compared to last year's game. This feels more like a stepping stone.
