Illinois 98, Florida Atlantic 89 Postgame

Yeah that’s what I was meaning. We were extremely lucky to come back and beat UCLA/Texas. But tonight we controlled the game and we deserved to win
63%, 40%, 90% 14 to’s. Every game expectation? 48% 39% 82% from the opposition would normally be a killer. But I thought we played good defense despite the nos. Just a very different game!

Torvik must be smokin' some really good stuff this year, cuz I don't see 27 teams better than us. Each model has its flaws I guess; I'll take the on court results we're seeing right now.
The statistical models can be fun, but they shouldn't be taken all that seriously right now. At this point the models are significantly weighted by the preseason projections. We're a couple games away before those start getting severely weened out. It's really a no win situation for models as people want something that projects how good each team is but also wants the models to rank based on performance and those two things are rarely the same.

Just think of the advanced stats right now as our fans before this game. Sure we've seen some good performances on the floor thus far but but but point guard!

I mean he also put up 17 on the road at Rutgers who are the 13th ranked defense on kenpom.

I think he translates.
I think that's the key: he may have been questioning whether he could be one of the prime scorers on a team at this higher level. He was told he could be. With the Rutgers game he realized that he could be. And with that confidence, a monster has been unleashed.

Didn't get to watch, sat at a choir concert instead! I assume by all the comments we played ok, shot FT ok, and shot the ball well.

I'm looking for the complaints and didn't see any, can someone highlight a negative, please. I won't be able to sleep tonight until someone says something negative.

- Brad's hair miscombed
- Geoff pant legs too high
- CoHawk surely did something negative after 20 positives
- TSJ had mismatching loop length on his shoestring?

Anything?

I feel like this game was a nice preliminary test for Edey. Golden has more to his game offensively with range, but obviously lacks with inches, rebounding, and free throws. It’s been shown that the secret sauce for beating Purdue is let Edey get his and handle the guards

What. A. Win.

Was getting a bit worried when we were struggling on offense but then Domask started taking off and never landed. Lots of key contributors today. Love that we don’t know who will step up each night. TSJ is always a man amongst boys though.

Man did we show poise and patience down the stretch. We haven’t seen that in years. Really proud of not only this win, but how we did it!

Let’s keep building off this! 🔸🔹

Getting 10 from Harmon was also huge. Not gonna show up when 2 guys score 30+ but big if him or Goode can do that each game.

We know we’re gonna get the 20 from TSJ every game.

Lmaooo. You should have seen it. Underwood had marker all over his face. Made me think he should get an assistant to handle that similarly to Bruce Webber. Jk of course….with Underwood at least

Yep, I agree. Just poking a little fun at them. I just hope we can continue to give max effort and give ourselves a chance to win against teams like Marquette, FAU, Tennessee, Purdue, etc. And get, and stay, healthy all year long and give ourselves a chance come March. It's way overdue for us.
