A lot of teachable moments from the 2nd half.

Tuned in late but things I loved after the awkward start…
Utilized Big Z effectively off the dribble drive alley oop; let him get off ball blocks
Andrej is wired to score; save him for the last stretch of the game. He can’t be stopped.
Wagler’s shot returned; hopefully he can do this against high major opponents
Lee and Petrovic add another dimension. Lee on the small things and Petro with the lightening quick first step.
Only 16 3 point attempts and 98 points.

Only thing worse from the defensive effort today is the BTN+ coverage. Glad will never have to hear again this season.
Not much came from this game. Limited Petro. Tomi was just kinda there. Illinois can score. LIU didn't belong on the same court. Clear holes exist defensively. Unfortunate we didn't see more zone to help defense down the road.

We moved from 11 to 7 on Kenpom after that. Not too shabby.
In the 1st half I thought we played good D and ran some offense. In the 2nd half, I think we got lazy on D and started playing one on one offensively.
Another example of how much more efficient we are when we don’t shoot 30 threes. Or even 20 lol

If we don’t start playing some zone we are in trouble. I saw so many players go under screens. Disappointed we didn’t see a bunch of it today. There is nothing wrong with playing a zone on defense, never understood Underwood’s distaste for it.

That was fun ................it really really was..................The Illini of the first 30 minutes of this game can beat anyone in the country..........
The last 10 minutes devolved into playground mode and I know BU and staff will be putting the lads through some tough defensive drills for the next couple of practices.............next game is another buy game on Monday..........

I'm glad they're getting healthier. I think quality of the opponent could be a factor as well.

We have some very bad habits to break to become a great team. These seem like persistent habits year to year.
1.Lack of intensity to start games
2.Mental errors - e.g. from this game nobody comes to get an inbound and BU has to call a timeout to prevent a turnover
3.Falling in love with one offensive approach for long stretches (sometimes it's shooting too many threes, today it was AS continually going solo)
4.Letting up defensively with a lead (somewhat understandable, but this really bad team played us even in the second half, actually outscoring us before we hit a couple late ones)
We have the pieces to become a great team and hopefully having and keeping everyone healthy allows us to do that. And - just as critical - that we have the will to do so.
