Illinois 98, Nebraska 87 Postgame

It was the worst of halves, it was the best of halves!
I missed the last 12 minutes due to family vacation. I also missed the last 10 minutes of the game yesterday. I don’t like this!!

But damn did these boys show some heart tonight. And bless TSJ. Go ILLINI

Nb was a tired team.
They were indeed. But it was because we wore them down. Mast expended a lot of energy that 1st half sprinting up and down the court and it showed in that 2nd half. Those second half possessions, every time we got a rebound it was a lightning fast dash the other way followedby bruising assaultafter bruising assault. TSJ was in Tominaga's grill. And then Ty and Luke on the offensive boards just broke them. They could no longer stop or stay in front of us and were chasing the play for a solid 15 minutes.

Nebraska had tired legs alright, but there's no question we did that to them as we both played the same number of games and they played in a blowout laugher in theirs while we did not. Conditioning not on the same level and the high pace of play is what did their legs in.

Indy, 0440, Lsville those that know more than us average fans that can just google. Is it safe to assume the team uses a variety of basketballs all year during practice ? Nike, Spalding, Adidas and Wilson? The reason I am asking, is I notice this tourney and the NCAA is with a Wilson ball and it seems to effect some more than others....like Domask last night, the layups just coming off the backboard different and what not. Can't help but think certain players prefer certain types and certain teams shoot better in certain games with a certain type.

TJ40!! Nuff said!! Oh, we should all take this moment to thank Juwan for giving us Terrance. That was so nice of him. I'm sure he is like this right now...

we gotta start putting tsj up there with kofi and ayo...the only team that can stop him is Purdue with a huge big man guarding the rim. he is literally college lebron, if he's making his 3s he might be the best player in college basketball

Ty appreciation post. Makes winning plays. Very glad he is staying in the game late now.

3 seed 🔒
An even more incredible Ty stat: Ty is currently the leading rebounder in the BTT. Nobody has more boards than him, including Edey or any Wisconsin player and they've played an extra game. Plus, Ty isn't a Center. If he were to get another double-double in the final, I think you almost have to find a spot for him on the all tournament team.

Nebraska was up 55-40 with 18:00 left in the game. From that point, it was all us. We finished the game on a 58-32 run.

TSJ was not going to accept defeat. Not on this day. We need this kind of mentality in the NCAAs.

Shout out to Luke Goode. He passed up an open one but man did he come up with some winning plays for us down the stretch. 12 pts, 6 rebounds.
His 6 rebounds were huge.

I felt much more confident seeing him still out there in the closing minutes.

I couldn't watch the game. I had to attend a play this afternoon. Downtown. 30-min drive both ways. It had three acts, lasted 3:30, had two intermissions, and was, to put it as mildly and politely as possible, soft-core Marxist porn masquerading as TRUTH. Sometimes a man's gotta do...

[An aside: for the Illini ladies who post here, please remind your husbands to kneel in heartfelt thanks for your affinity for college ball. And then give you a foot rub Jules Winfield stylz]

Anyway, I can't watch the replay yet and saw only the final score (and word of TSJ's 40-spot) without reading any of the post game thread. Awesome, decisive victory. Since we obviously must have clicked on all 12 cylinders for 40 mins I'm going to treat myself, sit back with two fingers of bourbon, and leisurely enjoy what I'm confident was a uniquely positive, uplifting game thread with nary a disparagement of any aspect of our hallowed program. I need it after the afternoon I've had.

/S
LOL. Make that 15 minutes.

18 minutes. Was enough
(And God bless you my son...my best to Mrs. Marx)
You know, I warned her and she conceded my powers of prophecy. The first two acts were OK, maybe shaky at times, but the third was, as I noted, an absolute dumpster fire that I suspect either an angry, sullen adolescent or Ivy League liberal arts graduate wrote (yeah, I don't know either how you differentiate there these days.)

This has given rise to a new tagline: "It had an Act III problem."

Taking this back to the matter at hand: I don't think the Illini are going to have an Act III problem this year in the BTT. Get 'er done, boys. :illinois: 🏀
