Illinois Baseball 2022

Looks like Rutgers beat Michigan so does make us the #3 seed??

Indeed. Which means the Illini play the first game of the day on Wednesday in the B1G Tournament in Omaha against the 6 seed, which it looks like will be Penn State.

Apparently some of the Nebraska fans were none too pleased with Purdue calling their game against Maryland. Purdue put their tarp on the field at 12:45 PM but the rain didn't start in West Lafayette until 2:11 PM for a game that was originally set to start at noon. Purdue officially cancelled the game at 2:28 PM. What complicated matters even more if they had been able to play the game is that Maryland would not have been able to start a new inning after 4:30 PM central time as they had to bus back to Chicago for an evening flight back home.

Had Purdue played that game today and lost, then Nebraska would have made the B1G Tournament. Because they didn't, Purdue gets in on percentage points ahead of the Huskers.

Thought we would be the 3 seed since we beat iowa 2 of 3. But looks like we are the 4 seed..

Illini, Rutgers, and Iowa all finished with same record. First tiebreaker for 3 team tie that have not all played each other (Illini and Rutgers didn't play) is best record against common opponents in B1G.
Likely just my Illini paranoia but it seems that whatever convoluted tie breaker the conference comes up with in any sport always seems to work to our disadvantage. :(

Lol. I don't blame you for thinking that. Had Illinois played Rutgers this season, then the first tiebreaker would have been best winning percentage against the other two teams.
