Of people who post a lot, I feel like I'm the single most optimistic person about this upcoming season. It's here man, this roster is not like what we had before.

I'd been waiting for the 247 "Team Talent Composite" to come out for this season, and it's telling us that we will be the more talented team in 9 of our 12 games this year!

But of course, to be REALLY optimistic is to be downplaying any chance at success, because it's an already known outcome that we won't make a bowl game, and the critical mission is to justify not firing Lovie when we fail. That's REAL optimism and positivity.

I'm sure it's been thought about by smarter people than me, but it seems like routes of ingress to the stadium is suddenly a real problem, the other side of the coin to having all the team-focused facilities so close.

This map shows the 4th Street entrance still open, but it doesn't look like they've updated it despite it saying its the 2019 stadium map.

I think the Illini performance center is one of the best in the country and is as functional, aesthetically pleasing and cool as any. Well above middle of the pack. Many of the new performance centers don't have the light but have similiar fuctionality. The Smith center has lots of windows and natural light. Iowa and some others are a bit claustrobic. Illini use of both natural and artificial light is above the curve.

I do agree with this. I dunno about claustrophobic, the Iowa one has a ton of square footage, but all that white and fluorescent lighting makes it kinda antiseptic.

Not all the design choices in ours are exactly my cup of tea either, but the team meeting room is terrific, I like the wood in the locker room, it's overall a very effective use of the money.

I think the Smith Center has a significantly higher percentage of winning design choices than those made in connection with the Memorial Stadium and State Farm Center remodels. So, props to Whitman on a job well done. I'm really looking forward to what they can do with a new hockey arena. ;-)

Absolutely loved Josh's tour of the facility. This is what I was waiting for. Someone to describe how all the pieces fit together and explain the behind the scene background and decision making. This what ADs are for. To tie the big picture together.

Anybody know the brand or manufacturer of the pop-a-shot game (being played at 0:37 of the Mercilus visit video) in the player's lounge at the Smith Center?

Would love to get one (Illini themed if possible, but looks like a great quality build to get even if Illini version is not available).
