Seems like a sign and place kid like Strong last year was for them. But Ballard is a stud

And we were clueless enough to not sign and place him when he wanted to commit prior to the season.

I know he wanted to commit but I thought they didn't try to sign and place was because they didn't think his grades would ever be good enough even after JUCO ala Merrick Jackson.

We did sign and place with Parchman and are trying with Spears.

Isn't Jackson going to Minnesota?

This is 100% not true. Illinois lost Simms for two reasons. 1. The new OL coach is the one Mizzou coach who didn't want to offers Simms while he was at Mizzou.
2. The current recruiter made it personal.

As far as Sunkett goes No matter how much the coach like or don't like a school, if the kid want to go there he has his full support. The two things that he is bothered by is 1. The current recruiter told a kid (the QB) that they will offer him as an athlete back in January and no one has heard from him since that visit. 2. Terry Hawthorne was/ is trying to get a job on the staff but is constantly getting the run around. To me its simple. If you are not going to offer, don't say that you are, specifically don't tell the kid that. A coach is like a father to these kids, once you mess with them, problems will follow. The last straw was telling Watson that he could transfer from Kansas to Illinois but didn't follow through. He ended up at SIUC which is probably better based on his skill set however, again don't promise something if you are not going to make it happen. If you lie now, what will happen once you sign papers? It would be nice to have a pipeline of the best players going to Illinois.

Another part of your argument just fell apart

Title, part of what you say does not make sense. Asst. coaches do not make offers; head coaches do. At least at Illinois. So if Simms didn't get an offer it was because of Pinkel. Next, how would you know that that Ricker did not want to offer him. The only people that could possibly tell you that would be Missouri coaches, so I of course they would say that.

Sorry, not trying to accuse you of anything or doubt your word, but I think that the information you are passing on, and have been told, has a lot of holes in it. Would have loved to have Simms here and hope other ESL players come.

Trevour was at a one day padded Mizzou camp where he dominated every lineman there. Pinkel didn't want to offer until his O Line coach gave his blessing. Because the coach was late arriving they had Trevour do a one on one workout with the coach. He left with no offer and was told they there were going with the kid from Texas. There is no need for me to make anything up nor fabricate a story on here. I gave insight. Take it or leave it. What I can promise you is I have direct insight.

You give yourself too much credit

I apologize but I am not following you. I have nothing to take credit for!

As far as information go, I will just let people believe what they want and not worry about providing true facts. Good luck moving forward.

Western Michigan over the past 2 days receives commits from 3 ILL kids. I know one of which we offered.

Only Hayes is one that I would have really wanted and that is only Marginally. I think we can do better than him. Estes is a quarterback that is a lesser version of Bailey and is in the right conference to play quarterback. We are in on about 50 Wide Receivers rated higher than Bell

Estes is very intriguing to me. Cannon for an arm

Yes, great news and congrats! I love to get a DL this early, plus a kid from IL is always nice to have. :shield:

Put me down for loving to get DT's early as well. We need a lot of DL help this class and DT's are so hard to find. Seems like you get them early or not at all. By signing day the big fish are fighting over 3 star DT's every year.

Seems like we should be happier about this? If he really is the #10 prospect in the state, those guys weren't even sniffing Illinois this year.
