Im still goin 10 to 1 odds Cam is our starter by the end of next year, really like the kid especially in McGee's system

he will RS and depending on who else we get JC/trans he wont play as a RS fresh either I kind of hope we see a lot more of JGjr in the last games he did something we don't and haven't seen here for years. He pitched the ball on sweeps and outside runs plus he didn't fall down when someone got close to him

Micah Jones and Devodrick Johnson visiting this weekend, correct?

Any other notable visits this weekend?

Hoping for an awesome homecoming environment and an exciting W in these gray uni's to inspire some potential future illini!

Has this staff given any indication they will redshirt him, either by word or action? I think scil73's scenario is much more likely.

Gillins has both torn his ACL and committed to SMU.

Any thoughts on AJ Bush at Iowa Western CC?

Formerly of Nebraska, left when it became clear that dual threat was not Mike Riley's cup of tea.

His throwing motion is a bit of an adventure but he's certainly a good athlete.

Does he sort of remind you of Juice but with more touch on the ball? That throwing motion is all over the place, but he makes those receivers look good with the placement in those highlights.

No, but considering how raw he is I wouldn't expect him to see any action. Unless he's an early enrollee, it's going to take time for him to get acclimated to the offense. I agree that he will be a nice fit in McGee's offense.

If he's the starter by the end of next year then we've either grossly underestimated his abilities, we failed in getting a competent JUCO or 5th year transfer and/or next year is a complete disaster.

A healthy Crouch should be able to run the offense.

What we love about Crouch is what will likely leave him injured. He didn't really even get a whole game under his belt before being injured, possibly for the rest of the season if rumors are to be believed.

Next year is expected to be a complete disaster. I think they will try to ease him in. Starting by season end is more likely than him redshirting and not even playing his second year, but I'm not saying that would be the ideal situation, unless he is a real quick learner.

Makes me think more of a left handed Crouch. Same size maybe a bit faster and shiftier. Did not show the big arm the coaches are looking for but nice touch , decision making, quick release with again maybe a bit more arm strength than Crouch. Hard to judge his arm strength in comparison to Crouch based on only the one game for Crouch.
However he has power 5 talent and could be a nice fit. Comes in after Gillins and Johnson in terms of potential.

Oh for the good old days when Coach Zuppke told a redheaded kid from Wheaton that if he qualified academically for Illinois and paid his own way he was welcome to try out with 100 other freshmen and just maybe get to play football. Of course, Harold Grange only decided to even go to tryouts because his fraternity brothers encouraged him to give it a shot.

Is he actually gonna transfer? Kizer is probably going pro.

His dad hates Kelly. Like really really really really hates him. And he feels misled since they were always going with Kizer but feigned a battle just to keep both around.

That said yeah, he'll be a better fit. But he's a potential top 10 QB in the country. His recruitment will be as hard as any 5 star recruits. I imagine he'll go to a top program that has an open job.

Can we really be that picky? I'm thinking warm body & better than Jeff Jr is what we are after.

My guess is, to reduce it to simple numbers, that Lovie and McGee would prefer a 6 that fits to an 8 that doesn't.

I feel pretty confident we'll be able to get a dual-threat who is better than Crouch. If they aren't better in a vacuum than Max Browne, that's still probably not a terrible decision for a variety of reasons.
