Big time get. Should be in the running to start at LT next year and it helps that he'll be here for Spring practices. The lack of OTs on the roster was/is alarming.

Wow. I don't think I realized the offer list for Unije:

- Oklahoma
- Alabama (recruited by Mike Locksley)
- Florida
- Louisville
- Ole Miss
- Oregon
- S. Carolina
- TCU
- UCLA

Verdis Brown- does anyone have any actual game film of him playing at IMG?

In reality, I think he is a center.

I know people want to make him a DT and maybe they ultimately do that out of need ... but his most natural position is interior OL.

Do we really have a need at DT? DE is a MUCH bigger need at this point.

OC is also a bigger need since Allegretti is the current backup at that position and he'll be gone after next year. We also need to keep Allegretti at LG.

I do feel kind of bad for Kramer since he was one of the bright spots on the OL this year. However, he'll remain in the two deep if he isn't starting and we all know all too well that injuries happen.

Brown could start on Day 1 since he'll be here in the Spring and we know this staff is willing to play guys right away anywhere on the field. We could be looking at another year with multiple True Freshman on the OL which is alarming, but the ceiling on these guys is off the charts.

Looking at 247, he is not visiting this weekend.

Another CB to Utah for Daniels:

Perhaps with Unije in the fold (and Brown as well), that may explain why Daniels may now be leaning towards Utah.

If he didn't make the trip this weekend with the other Texas recruits, I would say he's probably not coming here.

Dayven Coleman has said he won't sign this week and may take a visit to Utah in January. I hope those two don't end up as a package deal for Utah.

Agreed, which is why I think snagging Petersen would be a bigger get than his ranking.

Braeden Daniels has decommitted from UI and commits to Utah.

If Illinois did a Daniels for Unije trade, and there are no repercussions regarding the other Texas recruits, it's a great deal.

Agree! I wouldn't be surprised to see a grad transfer at DE, a very very young & inexperienced position on the roster.

I don't think we could've hoped for any better than what the staff has accomplished over the last few weeks:illinois: Add a couple more this week & then make that final push in Jan :thumb:

I don't even know who Roundtree's back up is at this point?

Woods? He played some SDE this year but would probably need to drop about 10-15 lbs to stick there. It would also be nice to see Oladipo drop some weight and slide over since we have a glut at DT right now.

I'm guessing Gay and Carney are the WDEs right now but picking up Petersen would allow Carney to provide depth at both DE spots.

If Petersen opts for Iowa State, who else is out there? Bell already committed to UTSA and will sign with them next week so he will not be an option. I don't know of any other DEs out there who we have offered and are scheduled to visit? Perhaps some other names will pop up after the early signing period is over.

Also, anyone know if we can count Kerby Joseph as an official commit now? I haven't heard anything about his visit this weekend.
