I wonder if Tito Odenigbo's transfer is related to an expectation that Calvin Avery and Verdis Brown are going to step into the DL next year.

Could be although there are a lot of rumblings of other stuff going on with him this year. There is quite a glut at DT on the roster right now even without Brown potentially coming here.

I wouldn't mind seeing Woods and Oladipo losing some weight and sliding over to SDE where we need more depth but that may not be possible. A guy like Kendrick Green may only be third on the depth chart next year and I've heard rumors that he may be flipped to the other side of the ball to add depth at OC.

yeah Green could move to OC i'd be ok with that, if V Brown signs, thing about the DL is a couple of the guys who played a little this year could sit out a year once we get plenty of guys who can play. I for one would much rather us have to many guys who should and could be playing on the Ol and DL then how we have been without enough.

if we can add V Brown and Reuben Unije to this class, I think our OL group will be as good if not better then last years, even if Brown plays D

This would be huge. We could probably offer him a chance to start at LT. I hate to see us be continuously young at OL but it's worth taking a chance on a player like this. He can see the playing time that was offered here to the Freshmen OL so hopefully he takes the opportunity seriously.

Is Abraham the lead recruiter on this one?

I havent seen but I would think he has to be, Hope V Brown happens to show up during his visit , I am wondering id we can get in on Tyrik Henderson he just decommited from Minny

I wouldn't mind 1 or even 2 of these incoming FR getting time on the OL, it would give us a nice group of talent for 19 and 20 for sure

As long as Kramer, Palcho, Boyd, Lowe all get bigger faster stronger agile our team will be as much improved as they get better. Adding guys like Unije and V Brown will only help slowly raise the bar of talent and play.

Next weekend and the following one are going to big.

Terin Adams and Unije are visiting.

I know Adams doesn't have an offer but he is a JUCO player at CB who would have three years of eligibility. I like Hobbs and Tony Adams at CB but he could be a nice pick up.

Craddieth and Coleman are visiting on the 15th. It's down to Iowa and us for Craddieth.

Interesting news about Henderson. He might be a plan B if we lose out on Craddieth.

We had a big December last year and we have to have a big one this year.

We'll find out either way on Brown since he is signing in three weeks. Then we need to close on a number of these visitors. If we can do that we could crack the top 10 in the B1G for this class and probably get into the Top 45 overall.

Currently we have 25 scholarships to offer for this class. There will be some reaches if we actually fill them all

I dont think there will be any reaches, Might be some guys not ranked high sure But I for one really trust this staff and there evaluations.

As much as I hate the idea of us going after JC and 5th year guys, I wouldn't mind seeing a QB maybe 2 OL BUT only if they are for sure starters That would give us a chance to rs a few of these FR, even a chance to RS someone like Lowe.

I am excite about whats happening here but I am realistic and I know we still are in for a rough year next year. I am one of the few I believe Illini football fan first would love to see it going to bowl games year after year then the basketball team going to the NCAA. Of course I would love to see both happening all the time as well as ever other sport doing great

Sorry, I took it for granted when the previous poster said high-quality recruits, he was referring to highly ranked recruits. No one has higher regard for this staff's ability to evaluate talent than me:illinois: What I was saying is if we fill all 25 spots there will be some recruits with us as their only Power 5 offer.

I was referring to highly rated recruits. The kind that are going to advance the state of our program. But i agree this staff seems to be good at identifying underrated talent. I just think with all the extra space now we should consider juco and grad transfers

Hopefully Lovie and the Illini can get at least have of our major targets. If he pulls it off, hopefully it will lend some credibility to his recruiting style/ability and at the same time ease the ache of some of these transfers.

Fingers crosses and optimistic, but ready for the bottom to fall out!

well we already have a few like that, J Slaughter for one, but the kid is a good one, he is only going to be 17 when he gets here, so a lot of room to grow and get his man strenght

I do not have any ache from any of these guys who have left. they could of all been SR and no one would be thinking a thing about them. They werent going to get much time on the field ,and they gave us room for adding more to the team so I am happy the way its going

Hey guys,

I have been following this thread, but I am not fully aware of our roster.

So, now that we had so many transfers, what are our positions of need?

What should I watch for, in terms of recruiting (outside of verdis)?

I would say a little of everything, reuben.unije visits this weekend, Jordan Branch a BIG RB, Terin DeAndre` Adams a Juco CB also visiting this weekend I believe are 3 names to watch

and of course D Craddieth

From reading how things are going for this new recruiting class........... some of these freshman who played/started a lot this past year......they better be improving and developing this offseason cause if not..... our coaching staff doesn’t seem to care and they will be recruited over immediately. I hope all these young kids step up and develop so the classes can mesh together to form our roster.

One nice thing is most of the freshman this year will be sophomores next year so if we can redshirt more then it will give space between players in the same position. With after next year will create our depth.
