Thanks for the list! I didn't realize that they were still going after Ware.

Are we not going after Calvin Lockett anymore? I see he's visiting Iowa this weekend.

It will be interesting to see what other names surface. I believe Adams and Unije are visiting this weekend while Coleman, Bell and Craddieth are visiting the following weekend.

Petersen already visited, but it will be interesting to see when/if some of the other players on the above list will visit (Mercier, Gaskin, Coleman, Branch, Jackson etc.)? I believe Cisco visited back in October?

They are really swinging for the fences closing out this class.

Also, not that it matters that much, but I noticed that Slaughter and Coran Taylor got nice bumps in the most recent 247 Composite ratings:

https://247sports.com/Season/2018-F...Rankings?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool&State=IL

Taylor moved up 16 spots in the state rankings while Slaughter moved up 13 spots.

Good to see Taylor and Slaughter get a bump up

I was wondering about visits as well, guess some of these guys arent going to sign early so still have a while for them to make visits. I do think we will get Petersen and I would be be shocked if we dont get a commit out of this weekends visits, and at least1 out of next weeks

Does that mean the writing is on the wall with ayodele adeoye? Only asking since he's been on campus twice i think since committing to Texas which is kinda interesting.

I have been sensing disappointed with this year's class compared to last year (myself included), but I found this stat interesting.

Average rating of 2017 recruits: .8371
Average rating of 2018 recruits: .8444

Well you can count me as one not at all disappointed, the OL and DL guys we have coming in already are enough to make me happy, but this class is far from finished and I for one am excited to see how it end up

Maybe the Walker decommitment means the staff got good news from Craddieth? :noidea: I can dream can’t I?

My guess is maybe their top targets at safety are Craddieth and Coleman as that nickel- SS/OLB Guy.

And Martin and Hardge both play CB. I only say that cause I believe when Martin committed a reporter said he’s better suited at CB. And Hardge just released his senior highlights.....all at CB.

So just my guess from connecting the dots is.

CB- Martin, Hardge. Maybe add that JUCO for depth.
S- Craddieth, Coleman.

That would be a very solid secondary class to pair with:

Williams, Hobbs, Adams

How raw is he? From what I've read, he started playing organized football when he entered high school, which isn't all that unusual. Plus, he's been at the IMG Academy for a couple of years where they have top notch S+C and conditioning.

If he's an early enrollee then I was hoping we'd see him get a chance to start at LT next year. That's time extra time that three of our OL who got significant playing time this year did not have. Playing time is about all we have to offer him over a school like Oklahoma.

It's never an ideal situation when you have to start a True Freshman on the OL, but this staff obviously had no issues doing it this year. Lowe clearly was not ready and should have been red shirted and I'm not all that excited about seeing him out there in 10 months.

I'd rather see a graduate transfer but we're really at the mercy of the transfer market there. We'd have to identify guys who are transferring AND want to come here. Unless someone on the staff has established connections to that player then it's hard to imagine them convincing someone to come here.

If he has been at IMG for two years, he's not raw, by any stretch. I live 15 minutes from IMG and visit there often. Their players are given outstanding nutrition, outstanding strength training and conditioning, outstanding athletic training support.

IMG's coaches are some of the best high school coaches in the country, to the point that many of them could land D-1 jobs at any given time. Many of them played a high level of college or professional football.

In practice, the IMG players practice against studs every single day. This year's ESPN 300 had 12 players from IMG. I reckon next year's will also. Studs everywhere.

In games, the IMG teams only get to play against the best teams in the nation. And every time they go on the field, these outstanding opponents bring their A game, both physically and from a game-plan standpoint.

These IMG linemen are going to be the best prepared they can possibly be. That's the whole point of going to IMG, where they work on their game year-round, and tuition is $72,000 a year.

I wonder if this tweet has something to do with Antwain's decommit.

I may be reading into things, but I sure hope this all gets fixed soon.

Werner just stated on his show that the Walker de-commitment was simply a grades thing. Staff can't say it, and Walker won't want to publicize it, but he did not get the grades he needed. Pretty simple, was not an ill-will thing between either side, doubt their is much ripple effect with other recruits.

That explains Thad Wards tweets about protecting brand and fake news. Hopefully it didn't cause any long-term damage with our other recruits or commits.

I just don't understand how some schools like Notre Dam(n) can get some of the athletes they get with their admissions standards and Illinois (a public school) is always left in the cold with stuff like this

To the extent we believe the staff, that is. Just saying. "He didn't make the grades" is the oldest trick in the book for Creaning a guy late.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, and I just don't remember seeing it. But I just saw that Calvin Avery will be in the Under Armour All American game. Kudos to him and the staff!

If we didn’t have so many scholarships open up due to transfers I’d consider this more plausible.

This. Also, he was a camp offer. This means they have seen him in person and thought he was worthy of a scholarship, just like Slaughter. Going back on that now doesn't make a whole lot of sense. He has the length and speed that they are looking for at CB.
