Well I’m assuming that Dru Mathis was supposed to commit, but this sudden UCLA offer might have changed some things.

Apparently it may take a while to announce due to remaining hurdles to cover.... speculation that may be release (eg Ford)

On a separate transfer note... how likely do we think Tate is? I spent some time browsing Twitter and the internet consensus seems to be he will transfer. In addition to the Illinois base, Oklahoma and Auburn fans seem to be confident they can lure him. Seems like there will be some heavy competition for his services

There would obviously be major competition if he decides to transfer. There has been mentioned that it isn't for certain he has the credits to qualify for a graduate transfer and there is always the NFL lure.

I think this is the 1 in a million situation that if he does decide to transfer we can beat the blue bloods. Tate exploded with the help of Rod Smith and there has go to be the confidence that it can happen again in an audition for the NFL. His alternatives are relying once again on guys with great offensive reputations but who don't know him and he hasn't built up that trust with.

No what it is is someone who doesn't know what they are talking about for the zillionth time and they got you again, Charlie Brown.

So was there some news coming soon, as in yesterday? Also who do we think it is?

Could he have been the expected commit from the other night?

I’m guessing so from the nature of the article. An Illinois source was confident and is now unsure lines up directly with our “we will hear the news tonight but then didn’t hear anything” drama.

Even though he’s not a prime throwing QB, there’s sure to be more appeal to playing with Kelly Bryant in the SEC than there is to joining our current situation.

Reading some thin tea leaves here but Jakai Clark’s commitment seems very much in peril. This week has really hurt, to say the least.

Buckle up, because the next 2 weeks are 2 of the wildest weeks of the recruiting season....all leading up to early signing day. Lots of flips, lots of surprise commits, and lots of unexpected developments.

Michigan just got their prized recruit suddenly to Alabama, for example. Kid was the top safety in America, and out of nowhere flipped to Saban. They also lost their top RB commit for this class, too. Penn State just lost a North Carolina WR commit to Mack Brown. Ohio State has lost a pair of kids already. It's happening all over the country.

The kids to be careful about are out-of-state kids who committed to us and may be receiving interest from schools closer to home. those are the likeliest candidates to flip.

Up to this point, under Lovie, there have been very few decommits in the run up to signing day and we have always had some pleasant surprises (e.g., Sydney Brown). We are bound to lose some kids. The key is that we are able to replace them and continue to improve. From what I have heard, we have some pleasant surprises coming in the weeks ahead. I would not be surprised if we lose some as well.

Oh I’m well aware, it’s the Wild West out there right now. I was simply hoping for more momentum going into this early signing period than it appears we have.
