This one sucks considering the company of schools we would be in if we made the top 5. I just hope he stays away from Minny or Iowa.
I believe it was stated somewhere that Brock is an Iowa lean. If he is not coming here, I would actually prefer that he go to Iowa over any of the other schools on his list save Iowa State. IMHO, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Purdue seem like the schools we have to surpass before aspiring to compete with the likes of Iowa.

Keep an eye on Adonte Crider in Quincy who will be a junior this fall. He may be better than Brock in the end. Michigan and Michigan St are already interested. Thick and quick, cuts on a dime. Hell of a bball player too.

My opinion is that when things click we will leap ahead of all of those schools all while competing with Iowa.

Commitment softening?

Maybe they are pissy about Miltons comments so they are taking a stab at 1 of our guys. I really hope Beason can keep his Illini vision this year when the big dogs come calling.

Doesn’t matter where we get talent from as long as we are recruiting well, but good to know that we still suck at in state recruiting. (Waiting for the obvious reply “Winning changes recruiting”) but I mean we had so much momentum that a month ago you wouldn’t think we would have lost both Bargy and Brock.

I don’t think so. Tweeting that he’s grateful for an offer is not a big deal and he has had big dogs knocking for awhile

Agreed. If he starts sniffing around and takes a visit, it'll be a different story. Plus, didn't he cancel a trip to Ohio St? Or was that Williams?

That was Beason. I think he is a TRUE :illinois:. He is constantly reppin Illinois. #illgang19 is the future! I'm still excited to see players like Carmoni Green and Owen Carney to break out as well. I believe they will be solid as upperclassmen.

Davis has run a 10.91 PR 100m.
"Fastest Man" title at The Opening Miami.

Brock 12.5 PR 100m.

And Cardinal Gibbons plays in a level of football that does not even remotely compare in any way to Quincy, Illinois.

I wonder who was higher on our board?

You might want to recheck your times as that 12.5 was in the 7th Grade.

I can guarantee you Brock is faster than 12.5 in the 100m.

Found an article that stated Davis ran 4.49 at The Opening Miami.

Mendenhall ran 4.45 at the combine.

10.91 isn’t fast guy fast for a high school 100. That’s normal person fast. Fast guy fast is like sub 10.6

So that’s why my wife tells me I’m not normal. Now I get it.

It gets you to state in IL.

But yeah, a major college program won't even let you walk on until you're under 10.7 or so.

Lovie said Tuesday night at the Suburban Illini meeting in Naperville that he looks for fast guys first. " We need to get a lot faster. I come from the Al Davis approach. First thing Al would ask is can the guy run? You can't teach speed." I am paraphrasing but that is it in a nutshell. This was when he was asked about the "number of stars" a player has.
