They are always loaded with talent. Title mentioned that their coach, Reed, was looking for a similar gig as the one that CP got with Illinois.

Reed has been very supportive of this program even though we haven't landed any LN players.

He's having second thoughts about the college job. Also I will add that Billingsley is no longer at Lutheran North.

Hypothetical: If you could lock in the 37th (8th in B1G) ranked recruiting class for 2020 (current standings) right now, would you?

For those confused like me, this is the head coach at Lutheran North High School:

A selection of their talent in the 2020 class:

Antonio Doyle, 4* OLB

Kevon Billingsley, 4* DT

Itayvion Brown, 3* OLB

For all that is holy, Lovie and staff could really use one of these LBs. Still the most perplexing trend of Lovie's recruiting history.

I will fight anyone who says no.

I would say no. With the recruits we have coming in at the top of the class, 37th ranked class would mean have a lot of low ranked recruits. This would lead to more depth issues. Assuming we land a few more 4 or 5 star kids, 37 would be disappointing.

Based on positions of need/depth chart and Illinois' current targets, who would everyone say is the most critical remaining recruit that we should be ecstatic to land? Mookie just based on his rankings?

Henning for me. Badly need WRs, landing the #1 recruit in Illinois has never been done for football in the modern era. They are close to a coin toss for me.

37/8 would basically be Indiana's '19 class (39/8) which had three 4* and seventeen 3*. Which looks typical for that range.
In terms of 4/5*, last year there was a real hard cutoff at the 16th class. Everyone in the top 16 had 12+ (and that was tOSU who only 17 total), while only Arkansas had double digits below that (eleven 4* for 23rd). Once you get to the 25th class, you're looking at less than 5 per team. The '18 rankings look similar, though not quite as drastic.

So we'd be filling the class with another high end recruit and then a bunch of 3* recruits. Certainly possible that we do better, but I would struggle not to take that bird in the hand.

My vote goes to Antonio Johnson. Mookie and AJ are physically very comparable. So hopefully we can get at least 1 out of the 2. The Safety Position is very weak plus it would be nice to get a big name from East St. Louis.

Is Martez Wilson not modern enough for you?
