Kevin Tyler looks like he is going to be a solid tackle. He is violent at contact. He has the typical thing to work on that almost all high school lineman need to work on. He sits high in his stance and even higher when he was pulling. Needs to clean his weight up, but I can see him starting 2-3 years for this team. He has surprisingly good feet for a guy his size and he finishes every block on his tape.

Phifer Griffin is going to need some time to develop. I can see him being a guard more than a tackle. Not as violent as you would like. Doesn't have great feet. Really good frame to work with. He is going to need a couple years to develop but it seems like a guy to can produce later in his career.

Anyone with knowledge about how PJ closes on so many of his visitors if the above is true? I feel like he's a slick used car salesman and that he puts the screws to whoever visits to close on the visit itself. It's not easy to go against that hard sell like Moore has and to walk out of the campus with a "let me think about this" mentality. I hope he's more for the logic approach of assessing all the facts and then choosing what's right for him. I think Lovie's style of "we want you, but there's no hard sell. We want you to be an Illini and choose to be vs pressure you" might work best for someone that likes to internalize the decision like that. I may be drawing too much on too little, but hey, here's to hoping for a great result for us!
Fleck and Lovie are on the two extremes on the spectrum....Fleck literally puts the recruits in a room with their family at the end of the visit and gives them 15 minutes to “think” about it.

A hard sell, time-share press works on lower rated recruits (claim your spot while there is one), but doesn't work nearly as well on higher rated recruits. Also, when lower rated commits get dropped (for upgrades), that MO is going to get noted. Lovie's approach requires patience, but our commits tend to stick.
100% - thus witness the large number of 3 stars in his commit list. And I've heard there are lawyers who can get you out of that time-share...

Fleck did this to my brother's friend, Matt Henningsen of the Badgers.

0440 will know better than me but I’ve been told a couple times that there’s someone we aren’t talking much about here that the staff feels is on the verge of a commitment. I don’t get the vibe it’s a CJ Dixon type, for note.

Jadon Thompson has transferred to Naperville Central. Evidently, his mom is now working in Naperville.

Hopefully he can help us with Sam Jackson who is committed to Minnesota.

Jackson is a soft commit. So, certainly flippable. My question is this: do we want him? Seems redundant and inferior to what we already have.

Yes. He's very much a good fit for this offense from what I've seen.

It's either him or Samari Collier at this point but I don't think either visited this weekend? Still a long way to go with 2021 recruits, however. I'm guessing we're not pursuing Macon anymore?

Hopefully Sam Jackson will start screaming "GET THESE MOTHA F-N GOPHERS OUT MY MOTHA F-N TEXT MESSAGES" after Fleck keeps texting him every 30 minutes. Then hopefully he says "SAY ROW THE BOAT AGAIN. I DARE YOU. I DOUBLE DARE YOU. SAY ROW THE BOAT ONE MORE GD TIME."

Some....body woke up on the wrong side of the PJ Fleck bed this morning. ;)

Seriously, I hate the garbage spiel his spews as well. I don't get why most parents of recruits don't throw up in their mouths a bit during his pitch....

I know that Lovie and JW are not worried about this recruiting class with only around 8 available spots left, we don't need much more. However, my only concern is our lack of options at safety. We have some depth and 5 scholarship players at safety for the next two to three years, but we did not recruit a freshman last year at the position. Also, given that we only have 6 scholarship corners (two freshmen), it doesn't look like we have a ton of options a few years out. Does anyone know of any safety or DB targets? I know we have Parodie and Graham that we are on, any others?
