So Jadon or Frenchie basically is what I am seeing. Let's all hope we keep winning and it wont become an issue

This class is too small to give hints, it would give names away and kinda betray the trust I’ve been given. Sorry. I will say that I have spoken in messages with a poster who is hands down the most respected insider here and in regards to the de-commitment name I was told, he responded “That doesn’t surprise me”.

My source is still saying Doyle probably isn’t happening but that same respected insider from above disagree with that. It does sound very much like a “heart vs. head” decision for him.

Wish we were in on some decent DBs, that group is gonna be ROUGH come 2021. The back half of the secondary needs to be, at a minimum, 6 deep to be an above average functioning unit. Minimum, As of now, come 2021, we’ll be.....2 deep. That won’t cut it,

This is consistent with what I’m hearing. But I’m not worried about dB. I like what we have for the next several years and we do need depth, but win 6 and depth will be there. Win 4 and the new coach will new to figure it out. Win 5, which is still my prediction, and things get cloudy.

Purdue is a tougher matchup for us. I think six goes through Michigan state

I don’t know, I don’t see it I guess. Come 2021, we lose both our best player and our most versatile piece in back half. And this is from a secondary that isn’t all that good now. Maybe Sydney gets there, Quan needs a lot of work but maybe he gets there. That puts those two in the mix with Marquez and Devon, both of whom I have high hopes for, and.....that’s it. I don’t see Kerby getting there. I didn’t think he profiled well when he signed him and I don’t see high end upside. That’s means you might have 3 CBs (Maybe) and you might have 1 playable safety. That’s rough.

I would definitely agree there, I think six goes through MSU or Iowa. Just tougher to see as they’re both road games. Then again, with the forecast for Saturday, maybe Purdue isn’t as ugly a matchup we think. Maybe...?

Any hope for Joseph Thompson? I thought he injured his foot before the season. I haven't seen him on the field. Is he still nursing an injury or still adjusting to the college game?

One could hope that guys like Watt and Thompson come along. They've been battling injuries all season.

And adding even more hope, (I feel like that's all we have at this point), maybe the staff can find another underrated diamond like Devon, et al for the 2020 class. Those kids would be sophomores in 2021.

They seem to be pretty good at talent evaluation and finding the hidden gems.

The coaching part though... meh.

Dixon is still solid.

Spann just adds talent to the QB room which is a great thing.

I expect Riggins and Spann both to be at Illinois

Doyle is watching closely to see how we play the rest of the season. If we win 3 more games... look out. Definitely between us and A&M

We win three more, I would say look out for more than Doyle! amirght AMIRIGHT!

What about moving Quan to safety? When recruited it seemed like he could fit at either position. Maybe he fits better there and we recruit more cb.

Hm, I’d have to try and watch some more film and think on that a bit. Not the worst idea I’ve heard.

This team will look like the current version of Purdue in 2021 if recruiting doesn't pick up.

Keep winning please 😁

Honestly? I’d settle for holding our current commits and Doyle. That’s a nice recruiting class for as small as it will be.

Doyle would be an unbelievable sign, that kid is as good as advertised.

Not gonna complain about any of it. But an Antonio Johnson, a great prospect from a great HS at a position of need would be tops on my list

You never know what a 6 game winning streak can bring 🤷‍♂️

It would change the program but on Johnson, it’s a done deal.

Wish we could still get in on Pogorelc or Luke Petitbon but alas, those ships have also left port.

My apologies, went chasing rabbits and missed this.

Unfortunately, my intel is solely related to HS recruiting so I don’t really know where he’s at. It was said during camp that his injury was a short term thing, I’m assuming he’s probably back now. As for hope, I will say I like him more at safety than CB and am happy he’s there. He doesn’t profile well to CB the way a kid like Devon Witherspoon does. Devon looks every bit of 6’, has great hips and what appears to be legitimate long speed to go along with the nice, long arms Lovie craves. He has the body to put on 10-15 pounds (Something he NEEDS to do) and still maintain the athleticism. He’s legitimately exciting. Joseph, however, might be generously listed at 5-10. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out he’s 1-2/3-4” shorter than that and he lacks the wingspan. Putting the same 10-15 pounds on him could be more difficult and that’s a concern, because he needs to bulk up in a big way. Whereas Devon could be a 4 year starter for this program, Joseph is probably another year or two away from being ready physically.

@ILL_INI: You made the scholarship chart back in time, correct? Is Devon Witherspoon on scholarship for this or next season?

By my count, including our newest commit, we have room for 5 more HS signees. Want to make sure that’s accurate.

He's on a scholarship this season. He doesn't have a color because there was no 247 rating. Walk-ons are below and without a number. Hoping to update the grid soon with a new commit!

I believe my math is correct then, 5 scholarships if we include a new name. Is that right?

Thanks for the help and the work with that chart, it’s fantastic work.

Jadon is constantly posting illini stuff he just posted something about good to be home for the big win just the other day...
I'm guessing it's not him..
I dont think its frenchie either... probably dixon if I had to guess... we will see

#570
I believe we still have a CB for Shontrail Key but I’m told a bigger Power 5 offer is coming his way soon. And it’s not Arizona, who just offered him apparently.

#574
I have us at 4 spots to fill. But I’m guessing we will need some d line transfers

Hm, I have 5. Maybe ILL can clarify.

We’ll take a few transfers but we’ll also lose transfers. I think we took on 7 and lost 8 last offseason. I’m not including those possibilities in my equation as a result.

#575
I'll have to add some formulas in the next grid! I count 12 Seniors and 8 commits, leaving 4 available scholarships.

Do not forget Luke Ford, he did not play this year so i will treat him as a 2020 recruit
Redshirts take up a scholarship slot. They can practice with the team and get a full ride and are just as much a part of the team as anyone else; they just can't play. Chase Brown is a third transfer on scholarship this year.
