Maybe, just maybe...

Can I keep saying Mookie Cooper to create maximum frustration? Or is it one of those things that if I keep repeating his name that it will come true?

Its all over other boards. Notice that is plural. Kid goes to Michigan and the cat has been out for a couple of days at least.

Ickschnay on the Ichiganmay. Let's respect the camouflage. Friday night volleyball game for ugly sweater night! And maize & blue sweaters count as ugly by default.

If it's a Michigan commit, boy would I love if it's AJ Henning. If it's a kid from Michigan........no clue. Maybe Josh Priebe? He's a NW commit, maybe that's more wishful thinking of trying to poach one of their commitments during a down season.

The report he's referring to has only about for 2 days and it's still not fully accurate as I'm told. But the player is AJ Henning.

Long way to go beofre that's a serious conversation piece. The guy going crazy with Henning talk needs to slow himself down.

Agreed. 247 shows he visited for the ND game. That type of atmosphere and whooping they put on ND is going to be hard to convince otherwise, especially since it is unlikely Harbaugh is fired (though he might leave on his own??).

On the Mookie front, the buckeyes just received a commitment from Marvin Harrison Jr, the #54 overall player in the 2021 class.

Like I said, we missed on the three main slot WRs we were recruiting, no reason to not keep trying to flip at least one of them

Oh I have no idea if we are trying to flip him, or if he does decide to re-open his recruitment if we would even be an option. But it's crazy that Ohio St currently has FIVE WRs that are rated higher than Mookie committed to their '20 and '21 classes.

I am just talking as a whole about the slot WR recruits we were in on. If Mookie is solid to tOSU as been reported here, despite the talent in front him, I don't see why you wouldn't at least keep trying on the other two. They are not committed to a program at tOSU's level at least. Should be easier (not easy, easier than recruiting against a top 4 team) to flip if we keep winning

It is definitely obscene but this is what comes with being a powerhouse, Power 5 program. You sign with the Ohio State's, Oklahoma's, Clemson's and Alabama's, you'd better be prepared to battle for your spot. This is no Marquez Beason situation, there's no reserved seating at those dinner tables.

It could be that Mookie doesn’t care about playing right away. Maybe he’s content to know it could take a year or two to crack the rotation.

I think the only way he re-opens his recruitment is if he wants to play right away AND he’s convinced he can’t beat out his fellow ‘20 recruits as well as most of the upperclassmen already on the roster this year.

Some of these stud athletes feel they will make the 2 deep right away until reality sets in. But who know? Maybe we’ll see Mookie on the field next year for tOSU. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Those 5 have an average height of 6' 2&1/3" vs. Mookie's 5'8&1/2". It worked out well for Davy Jones of the Monkees, so he's got that going for him.

Not to jump too far ahead but after looking at the top 2021 Illinois prospects, I'm guessing next year will be a big focus out-of-state. Three of the top five are already committed else, another is Dominic Bass (big priority for Illinois, but already has a UM pick), and the final one is from an area that Illinois has traditionally done very poorly (Winnetka). You have to get farther down the list before you start finding prospects from areas this staff has been successful. It's early and these names will get shuffled around coming next fall, but that 2021 class is going to be so important with all of the seniors.

Dominic did transfer to Morgan Park which is coached by Chris James and Eddie McGee. I have no idea if we have a shot with him but that can't hurt.

It would also help if we could land Keys.

6' 3" 185 CB from texas.....would be HUGE considering the lack of depth at the position

Not quite. He’s a great kid, Jeff Riordan did a phenomenal job with him in HS but he was a WR who needed to stay at WR. At DB hes stiff and he’s lost. Might try him at safety.

Still an intriguing talent and he is a great kid, we could do worse in the portal but this kid has a long way to go and only 2 years to get there. Wish it weren’t the case but truthfully, he’s no further along than Devon at this point.

Illinois wants him as a WR.

Interesting
Leads me to 2 questions
1. Did the USC safety ever land anywhere that was in the portal last year
2. What do they plan on doing at safety next year?
