I wasn't knocking anybody for anything.. I was just saying I didn't know really if they could flip him.. just really doubted it...

That’s more than fair. However, in this instance, there is a highly credible source with a long track record of credibility sharing information. It’s only wise to put our personal thoughts aside when given these types of postings.

No doubt, I honestly did not know, nor look to far into who I was replying to... I simply read and posted what i have been hearing and reading.. BUT now that I know I will be more diligent..
Hopefully water under the bridge now..

You’re all good my friend. We all root for the good guys, that’s what matters.

My apologies brother... was not in any way questioning in an offensive manner.. just was regurgitating what I had heard and read...
I have read so much about how ohio st is very confident in mookies comittment..
Also heard on osu rampage podcast mookie was trying to recruit for osu as well.. so from those points I had reason to believe he would not be flipped...
After reading back into some of your posts I understand where your coming from and your track record as well..
So I am now much more optimistic in mookie being flipped than I was when I woke up this morning..
Again my apologies.. hopefully no hard feelings..

On another note here's two separate quotes I read in the miami herald about smith..
"Derrick is having a really good camp, it's like his hands have a magnet for the ball, and hes been making a lot of plays, and making big steps in the backfield."

"The transfer is somewhat puzzling because Smith’s name had been mentioned several times in fall camp for numerous interceptions."
He is officially listed at 6*2 and 220 lbs
Big boy and fast with good hands.. sounds to me like lovies gonna have some fun with this guy...
I just cant wait to see if he will be eligible or if hell have to sit out for a year... either way I'm content.. even if he sits this year then that means next year we will have Beason, luke ford, and him, plus the recruits we've already landed.. at the end of the day I am super excited for what to come for the orange and blue...
One last thing.. anybody else on here going to the opener against Akron? If my baby hasn't been delivered before then I will be there....

Safety? Tight end? Lab experiment?

Our staff is taking this transfer phenomena to a new level (for us). Somewhat akin to NFL free agency. FWIW, I'm all for it. Obviously, we need to be judicious with the kids we're taking. But the talent level and experience of these guys can be a great equalizer.

It is becoming a more and more exciting time to be an Illini football fan. The infusion of talent via the transfer portal as well as the fact that the roster essentially gets Luke Ford and Marquez Beason with a year of intellectual growth in the system is fantastic. A senior Brandon Peters with "One" in the wings and three senior wide receivers with that stacked backfield and an experienced O-Line would make a mediocre 2019 palatable. Now, if Frenchie really is on board as the more trustworthy folks here say, and Illinois finds a way to add/stash some impact, high-ceiling 2020 athletes, we can all preemptively douse ourselves in orange Kool-Aid.

Are there any other key defensive recruits in the hopper with any news? I like all the great momentum on the offensive end, but we need a defense that can at least temper our opponents enough to allow the offense to win. I'm not confident we have that defense personnel yet.

I can see how you're nervous about the D. It all starts up front where they must create havoc and the DE's need to get pressure on passing downs. Thin in the DB department which is a huge concern. Can't have injuries in any position there. LB position has depth but, they have to prove they can play.
