The reality is that these are 16, 17, and 18 year old kids. I am around them every day as a teacher. Their minds change about things all the time. I suspect he will still sign with A&M this late in the game. While I appreciate your insights on some of these recruiting situations, your attitude needs to be more like 0440. He has insider knowledge but doesn't act like any other opinion or thought is wrong and stupid. To be honest, it gets a little annoying to see how condescending you can be. I still want to see your take on certain situations, but not at the expense of shutting everyone else down who might have a little hope that a kid who will probably have a hard time choosing what to eat at lunch today might still consider Illinois. Just my 2 cents.

Fair enough, I'll take it elsewhere.

I've been doing this a long time. If I had a dollar for every time someone knew a kid, I wouldn't have needed the job all these years. And that's not a shot at ya, truly, it's simply fact of life when it comes to HS recruiting. There's a friend, a cousin, an uncle (There's always an uncle) who just KNOWS what's going to happen and is more than willing to play the insider for ya. Then you get burned a few times and figure touching the stove isn't all that worth it. Johnson could flip tomorrow and this still wouldn't change.

Fun but tiring.

Sounds good. I am not the type to go back and forth. You can have it. I shared information. After being a part of more than 80 kids signing D1 over the years I have learned that there is always someone who has an inside track somewhere. I was tagged in the post and I shared the bare minimum. If you chose to be the gate keeper, that is fine with me. Good luck.

This.

ESL has a number of kids that are going to be fantastic recruits over the next 2-4 cycles. If we turn Cory loose out there and we only end up with 1 kid, that's still 1 kid our program wouldn't normally land. That should always be the end goal.
Recruiting is a relationship business. Relationships with programs leads to relationships with players. I am 100% in favor of looking at the big picture in situations like this.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm just excited to be discussing the possibility of Antonio Johnson and Doyle. This is getting to be like when Zook was pulling in the 5 star recruits, so exciting. And we shouldn't forget the guys we have committed now too, Thompson, Dixon, Frenchie. Should be fun!

I PMed Title, there's no "bout".

This might hurt some feelings but if anyone wants to really get into HS recruiting, I mean REALLY into it, you're gonna need to grow some thicker skin. I'm more blunt and outspoken than I need to be at times and that's a fair criticism but this business can, has and will continue to break the hearts of those with unrealistic expectations and as such, I've grown accustomed to flatly calling it the way I see it without emotion. It's nothing personal towards anyone.

I'm also always the first person to stand up and say when I miss as well. Another part of the business. If you stomp and whine because you got bad info on a kid, no one will work with you. A couple of younger TX guys out there are still toiling away after burning bridges on the McCoy kid. If you get it wrong, say you missed and move on. It'll be very easy for me to do here because, you know, I want Antonio Johnson.

Hopefully both our insiders will keep on sharing. Little secret us non-insiders keep on the sly: when we stir it up a little, it keeps you talking, dropping a few more hints our way. Hang in there!

Oooh boy if that’s JaQuari we better hope his growth plates are still open. Body By Lou really has some work to do. What do u think Twangers? High probability for a quick first step?

Imagine you could guarantee a few sacks a game by force-tossing an OL directly into the QB. That said, stamina would be very low—definitely not an every down type.

No need to go back and forth to provide information. There is nothing to hide.

It's not about thicker skin. You do the same thing regarding football schemes. Any opinion that disagrees with yours is automatically wrong, and you flat out say that when you are not always right. You certainly aren't the only one with coaching experience (I would assume you have that based on the depth of knowledge you have regarding schemes), so all I am asking for is to be less dismissive of opinions that don't agree with yours.

Again, I appreciate your insights. My connections to the program have diminished over the years, so I like that there are still people who can find out information that is not readily available to 99% of us.

As to the actual theme of this thread, I am excited to see how much these connections pay off in the future with TC, LN, and ESL not being low on talent in the younger levels. Those are the kids that are going to notice the turn around before they make a decision.

I would reiterate much of what we discussed previously. I think he's a kid who needs a year plus of serious technical instruction before I would feel comfortable letting him play at the Big Ten level, his hand usage is very raw but the kid has real talent and he'd be a solid flip.

Might have some (more) bad news, actually. If we're planning on these JuCo DTs to make a difference for us, we may need to re-think that a bit. I watched a good deal of Shipton the last few days. He's got some pretty ugly tape, I don't think this is a Power 5 player.

Okay, so I'm confused now as to whether you're talking about the real Jaquari Wiggles or Jaquari Wiggles if he was a Baby Yoda.
