Refuse to get sucked all the way in. But a 3 years to the NFL plan (and a lot of hard work) might be very tempting. That's our edge on the big boys.

We have an outside-the-box sell for elite recruits now (that we're somewhat relevant). Hopefully, we can land some whales!

Apologies if this has been posted earlier:

Transfer portal: A look at the 4 players who are leaving Clemson's football team

T.J. Chase
A redshirt junior, Chase is the latest Clemson player to enter the transfer portal, doing so Monday.

His impending departure should come as no surprise given his status in the Tigers’ pecking order at wide receiver, where the team is blessed with depth. Chase had seven receptions for 70 yards while playing in 12 games last season.

Xavier Kelly
Kelly, who was a four-star signee out of Wichita, Kansas, in the class of 2016, announced his intent to transfer Friday.

Kelly found himself third on the depth chart at one of the Tigers’ defensive tackle positions, with younger talents Tyler Davis, a freshman, and Jordan Williams, a sophomore, ahead of him.

Chase Brice
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has repeatedly said that Brice could be a starter at many other schools; now we’ll find out.

Brice announced his transfer Thursday, which came as no surprise given the other quarterbacks in the fold for the Tigers – sophomore Trevor Lawrence, freshman Taisun Phommachanh and mid-year enrollee D.J. Uiagalelei.

John Boyd
A reserve linebacker, Boyd appeared in six games – all on special teams – and had one tackle.

Boyd, a product of Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia, was not on Clemson’s travel roster for the Fiesta Bowl, but did make the trip to the National Championship Game.

I’m not glad, but I would say there is a chance. Lovie is different than other staff. If he is still open, it’s not ridiculous that he just connects with Lovie and his calming presence. Several other high quality candidates have signed, and most with no evidence that things are getting better. Things are getting better. I wouldn’t bet on it, but he has been committed since 2018 and still hasn’t signed. His position. Coach just left. The line has strong rankings, we have some future pros. It’s not likely, but anything can happeb
I'd really feel better if we had an OL coach recruiting him who had sent some Illini he'd coached to the NFL or developed them to AA/AB1G status. I REALLY wish that former Illini and Bears OL Coach Hiestand was on the staff recruiting him. Anyone know if he found another job after getting bounced from the Bears?

I looked up his Wikipedia and it said he coached the Bears OL until 2019. It didn't say he coached anywhere after that.

Shief

Champaign Area
Tip's profile lists him as an OLB and every article I've seen lists him as a TE (preferred walk on). What are your thoughts on his tape? I look forward to seeing him in the O&B.

This is a good pick up. They have been on him for a while.
Doesn't seem there was much P5 interest in him. While that's not surprising for a remote player off the beaten track, I'm a little concerned that perennial FCS champion North Dakota State doesn't appear to be in on him. They probably know the story better than most for the Dakotas....

What’s the harm in taking him as a PWO? I swear, you are the epitome of one step forward, two steps back with your posts. You’ll have one that makes a lot of sense, and then follow it up with an Eeyore-like post.

Agree, I read the Illlini Boards and am amazed at the haters...3 weeks ago posters were calling for Underwood's head, 3 months before that it was Lovie needs to go..offer a PWO and someone post that nonsense..just unbelievable sometimes

We've had a few PWO's getting scholarships recently. They aren't just fill-ins. I wonder if there are any ties to UI for the family or his coaches...?

There's a limit to the number of PWOs you can take, and limits on the roster. ARE we going to have to turn down the another Navarro or Fedej for this guys guy's spot?

Recruiting is a lot like chess, you can NEVER afford to waste a move. Who you choose as a PWO matters, sometimes a lot....
