Wow, he was our highest rated recruit. Overrated or impatient to play? Given the Tulsa landing spot I guess the former?
Maybe a little of both. I believe I saw recently that he wasn’t part of two-deep, and who knows what his conversation with Bret was like after spring football. Tulsa as a landing spot isn’t bad at all. Good football played in the conference, and Tulsa has gone to bowl games past two years. Easier to get noticed by NFL scouts when you’re playing, so if he gets on field quicker at Tulsa then a good thing for him. Not like the scouts won’t find him playing at Tulsa. I think they had at least 2 OL picked a few weeks ago, including a first rounder to Dallas.

Yeah, I guess if you are going through the trouble of switching why not go down a slight notch to ensure you play instead of ending up in the same spot at a different team.

For some reason it seems like our highest rated recruits flame out at a higher rate. I'm going to pick the person in the middle of the class and get excited about them instead. LOL.

I also recall others smarter than I stating he doesn't fit well with new schemes being brought in. Can anyone confirm/expand on that?

Although 3-star quarterback Hank Brown sat behind Cincinnati signee Luther Richesson for Nashville's Lipscomb Academy last season, that has not prevented him from generating serious interest from Power Five schools including offers from Illinois and Pittsburgh. Brown will get a chance to seize control of the Mustangs' offense this fall as a senior in pursuit of a second straight state championship, and he put his offseason development on display Monday night at Lipscomb Academy's college showcase.

Brown is a pocket passer, but he did show promising accuracy and zip on the ball when throwing on the move and off platform outside the pocket. Brown dropped a number of touch passes downfield into small windows against tight coverage from a talented group of defensive backs for the Mustangs that includes 4-star 2024 cornerback Kaleb Beasley.

Brown has learned from former Super Bowl-winning quarterback and current Mustangs head coach Trent Dilfer since transferring to Lipscomb Academy last June and appears poised to be the program's latest hot quarterback recruit. With interest in Brown potentially ramping up this summer, the Illinois native said he will pay close attention to his personal interactions with coaches.

Hank Brown is the QB whose film is (in my uninformed opinion) so intriguing...based on the programs that showed up for their college showcase, the prospects of Illinois landing him just got a lot more challenging.

Both ways I’m sure. But we were already under 85 right now
Doubtful anyone leaves who's not already in the portal because they missed the deadline for the waiver to play this fall.

Zero prep DL prospects last class. Missed out on two targets this class in Pierce and Gant. Still plenty of prospects out there but rough start for Coach Jamison.
Yes, there are still good DL available. Trevor Buhr (high motor DL), Jamel Howard (run stuffer), Drake Carlson (quick and great hand work) and Jamel Harkless (run stuffer and IMO a little bit quicker than Howard) are one's I like.

FWIW Northwestern is leaking it out that they are expecting a monster class for 2023. Sounds like they will get 2 or 3 big commits soon, out of state kids though.
