More CBs this morning for guys visiting. Surprised to see them take these guys with how small the class will be personally

Could be a lot of reasons for these decisions. Do they think the recruits are really good and undervalued? Is the staff thinking the ship has sailed on a couple top tier targets? Current players not impressing or expressing a greater likelihood of transferring in the future? Regardless of reason, I'm starting to think 17 is the floor for 2023 HS signees and ceiling is 20.

Gonna be more than 14 (I'm smart, lol). Hill, Tobe and Karriem (please!) push us to 17 (math major).

After losing out on Tonielli (sp?), Guinn is a take (and Tank project).

Nailed the spelling. This isn't a "questioning the staff" comment, but would love to know more about the process with him. Bielema loves TEs and State of Illinois had a well-regarded prep in an area that Illinois football has had success in the past. That said, the staff offered much later than a number of big programs. Does that mean that BB and others think he was overrated? Maybe they reached out early and he was open about interest in blue blood programs? Tough to say.

Just my thoughts, can Guinn put on good weight? He looks like a thin 220#. He has some speed so, can they split him out (Steve Watson)?

Simeon, you are right of course. We‘ve seen all the raiment (right word?) before, and been burned before, right up to Cliff‘s evil hat trick. But look at those gloves. Dem are fitting just right. I have a good feeling about this one. He‘s going to spurn that old if Michigan knocks, the Illini don’t stand a chance rule. Those Michigan CBs are going to inspire him to rebel against the norm and say yes to the Beloved!

And if what i heard is true from another board, we can forget about Elzy too. ABI seems to be very strong still in this state from some schools.

So if Guinn and Lott commit soon, how many more spots will we have left?

Do you think Bret would take Bates for special teams?

I know I am late to the party, but how many players will be in this class?

Am I right that the remaining spots will go some combination of the following players
Elzy
Guinn
Terek
Henderson
Hill
Karriem
Tobe
Lott

Hmmm. Werner & his crew had some optimism about him in the not-so-distant past. Things change, but I don't think I would claim him as an ABI candidate. There are others in the top-10 that likely made it clear Illinois (& NW) wouldn't be considered.

This is probably a good list of prospects who have a green light on committing as things stand right now. Certain commitments on this list may remove others. If Terek commits, is Henderson no longer a "take"? What about a Elzy/Karriem commitment? It goes almost without saying, but others will progress in the fall season and become a priority. I'm sure the staff would like another shot at pulling out the 2022 version of Rolder.

Terek is getting more predictions for Iowa, likely an extreme long shot.
