Very Northwesterny. According to their official website, Wisconsin has exactly zero players from Chicago on their roster.
Wisconsin has a number of players close to Chicago area on the roster. It would be the equivalent of those that live like 10 miles, 20 miles, 30 miles, etc from Champaign-Urbana. He has some balls to do that billboard but has also backed up his talk at his previous stops and recruiting at Wisconsin so far.

Loyalty goes both ways

Deon Colorado intro press conference

...“I’m coming. And when I get there, it’s gonna be changed, so I want y’all to get ready to go ahead and jump in that portal and do whatever you’re gonna get because the more of you jump into (the portal), the more room you make because we bring kids that are smart, tough.”....

My son's HS coach was fired after going 6-5 winning one playoff game then losing in playoffs (he was there 2 years). The new coach has already recruited new transfer QB and LB. They announce the transfers in the local newspaper. HS in Orange County CIF division with Mater Dei etc. NIL allowed in HS too.
Which school? I’m an old(ish) MD guy. To their credit they basically don’t take transfers anymore… all there since they were freshmen

Does anyone know who is on campus this weekend? 2023 recruit.

The point is that just like Northwestern saying they are "Chicago's Big Ten Team" even though they are not in Chicago, Wisconsin is touting "Chicago to Madison" even though they have no one from actual Chicago on their roster. As Deon said on the NU game broadcast, it kind of pisses the Chicago guys off.

If it pisses the Chicago guys off than that would be great and the marketing will backfire...time will tell

Gonna be a lot of this.

A target rich environment for good journalism, among other things.
I would think a rich environment for some lawsuits as well. This is exactly what I thought of when Jones bolted for more money. It cuts both ways apparently. No one’s going to shed many tears for Illinois, but lawmakers and lawyers will be getting involved soon when collectives start bailing on the kids. And I have no doubt promises are being broken on a regular basis. This is broken, but I don’t even know if it can be fixed at this point. The proverbial cat is out of the bag, there’s 1268 of them, and they went feral fast.

13 million for an unproven recruit seems crazy. That’s more than NFL contracts. How common is it for NIL to be signed and then not have the money?
just saw this on internet news. My first response was this is a 4 star qb? Looks like a small breeze would blow him off the line of scrimmage.

6’ 4”, 175, looks more like 150.

at any rate, at any weight, this is crazy money even if it was bogus.

Georgia wins the national championship and has 5 four or five star players enter the transfer portal in last couple days. Normal attrition, playing time issues, didn't live up to hype, being recruited over, all of the above?

I saw on ESPN ticker the other day that Georgia just signed its SEVENTH top 300 2024 recruit already. To put that in perspective, per 24/7 the Illini had no such recruits last year (though Etzy was just outside that and had two others ranked in 300s) and have one 2024 recruit signed. I’d say it’s just “normal” attrition.
