I did a google on her. Shes a good looking gal. Likely a Theta , Kappa or Alpha Chi if things from 1982 stayed the same when she was there.

Tyler McClure, pwo from Champaign, interesting story. Midyear admit from juco where he played baseball. In fact, he's been exclusively baseball since his freshman year of high school. Dad played baseball at Illinois in 90s and then several years in the minors. Last stop in AAA with the Mud Hens. Mom Kelly Scherr played volleyball at Illinois at the same time. Sister has committed to play volleyball for Ohio State next year.
Played Baseball with Brian growing up. Definitely has good genes and really looking forward to seeing how Tyler develops

In a major rarity for Texas, the football coaches at my school actually push their WR/secondary players to basketball. It’s not purely selfless, because the movement patterns and coordination required for basketball help guys get better at football. It also helps reduce the chance of repetitive, and overuse injuries that you get from specializing. But it’s nice to see our staff make it public that they want multi sport athletes.

All lineman should wrestle as long as they don't have to cut too much. It's great practice at maintaining leverage and hand fighting

Seems a bunch of in-state guys hit up jr days at rivals this weekend
- Imarion Stewart went up to UM/Ann Arbor again. Likely a heavy favorite if they'd take him
- Easley, the big OL from Kankakee, went to Bama and walked away with a Saban offer
- Grant Stec and Morgan Park's Griffin went to Madison/UW

Going to be a tough road in-state for '24s. Lots of competition

I'd take the same route as the basketball team. We always want the best instate players, but we're not going to waste time fighting an uphill battle with a kid that doesn't want to come here. It's a big country with a lot of athletes, you get no extra points because the kid is local. When you win with those out of state players, eventually the local kids cease to be an uphill battle.

When we win with out of state kids, I'd prefer to continue recruiting winners from out of state.

YMMV

Recruiting capable student athletes to build a winning program should be the priority. Winning programs recruit nationally. In time this should attract more in-state talent, but there’s no need to obsess over zip codes. Give in-state athletes an equal opportunity, but don’t waste excess energy on them.
