Opposite of my opinion on Davis: It will be more noise than signal if Illinois recruits Henning. Unique situation of a player who was badly wanted out of HS (by the previous staff), in-state recruit that would continue to pump out the PR brigade. I really do not want him to follow the rest of the UM transfer portal guys by going to Iowa.

Henning: almost can't believe I'm saying this, but leaning towards nope. I really like our WR room. And I think Wilcher is Williams' heir apparent. I think he's gonna be VG or better. I'm riding with Wilcher.

I'll agree it's a bad time to be hoping for Henning to Illinois to finally happen. Best Illinois WR room in a very long time. Illinois has a indisputable better version of Henning on the roster. Why would Henning leave a crowded UM WR room for similar problems at Illinois?

This is why I'm fearful of him going to Iowa. They still badly need WRs, especially guys who can get the ball quickly and create yards. His QB would be his former QB. He still would be fairly close to family.

Your sell at Illinois is based around "coming home" - turning him into the next version of IW in 2024 - saying he'll still get snaps (he would definitely get playing time at Illinois) - maybe you plan on less 12 personnel and have fun packages with IW and Henning on each side of the ball.

I fully get it. But if the primary reason for taking a kid is to keep him off a rival, then that's not a very compelling rationale, IMO.*

* - hoops is different and the calculus changes if the kid is a QB

'25 in-state DEs Chris Burgess and Jaylen Williams picking up some big SEC offers including Georgia. Keep em in-state, Brett

Both of these guys are going to get a boatload of offers. Will be the 2025 recruiting measuring stick.
