Can I get a realistic take on the likelihood of landing either or both? The fact we are even getting these visits is huge, but will be land one or the other?

I am thinking no and no, however, as you mentioned even getting them on campus for a visit is an accomplishment in and of itself. This is unheard of 3 years ago. While I do not think we will get these two, (hoping I am wrong about that). We are coming on and we will get one or more of these type of recruits in the near future.

not sure about that, but there's more than one way to get to The League and elite kids don't want to sit. just to be clear, our staff is making a strong case that they're top flight and on par with the big boys
I think he's saying that C. Bullen is the best, but maybe I'm not interpreting things correctly...

Orr got rated by 247, .8578, pretty good first rating: https://247sports.com/player/carlos-orr-46138885/
What do you mean by first rating? Do you think it will go up?

Not sure if there has been grade inflation, but a quick scan didn’t have the average of any team in the top 50 below .86, except Miami of Ohio. In fact an average of .87 seems more like a really good class. Conversely, it’s probably all so close that it’s not enough to make a material difference.

It’s not high. Both of these recruitments feel like it would take a lot of factors breaking towards Illinois.

Everyone is different but it would take something like an A+++ visit, willingness to risk certainty of college team success (a la Ohio State) for being a bigger part of a team with a lower ceiling, complete buy-in that Bullen can give them the same (or better) chances at professional success, location benefits (Lightfoot), etc.

The knee jerk reaction here is that not upselling our team is scoffed at, but it’s so tough to win these. There’s been several recruitments like this where it’s obvious how much Illinois is punching above their weight class over the years. The ones that Illinois landed was either a strong coaching connection (IW) or Zook being Zook. Winning one of these recruitments purely on the recruit buying into the program or the position coach (w/o a previous connection) would be almost unprecedented ground for this program.

Immediate playing time.

You go to OSU, Bama or Georgia you are small fish in big pond. At C-U you are a whale. Look at how much press Chase Brown and Weatherspoon got at Illinois!

Spot on. It seems like there is an immediate impact with his hire. Its got to be a pretty big draw to get coached by someone who has helped get multiple guys to the Pro Bowl.
