Nothing against McCray, he's had horrible bad luck with injuries, but I don't know why you would count on production from him.
He did well in the Tony Peterson offense. Has not be successful in the BL offense. Qb under center vs shotgun, iirc

After reading the comments about BB from Mr. DeVito and then from Andrew Dennis (and family), I really can't imagine having a better guy sitting in the living room of these kids these days.

Money talks of course, but bs walks...and there is obviously zero bs from BB.
Are these the comments from Mr. Devito you're referencing? Really cool to hear.

I think Love would’ve been our starter next year, but I think a combo of Feagin, McCray, Valentine, and the rest is a top half big ten RB room at worse.

No shot love would’ve started. When we went to a gap scheme and started running Feagin the offense was completely different. When Feagin is running downhill and shoulders square to the line he’s a load to bring down.
Love is a nice player but he doesn’t have that kind of power and he’s a step to slow to get the corner.

Laughery and valentine replace love. Both have more speed
I always found Love to be pretty mediocre. He was able to get what was there. Sometimes he had enough speed to make quite a bit out of what was there. However, he did not have a lot of ability to create something when the blocking wasn't good. So ultimately he was very ok.

Feagin has the size and speed to just plow ahead for yards when there's nothing there. I don't know what to really think of Laughery. He hasn't really had a lot of opportunity, which would indicate he hasn't been able to win the opportunity in practice, but I do like his speed.

What I think Valentine will bring is some catches out of the backfield. We only had 27 catches out of the backfield in 11 games, no one RB had more than 9 receptions. I'm hoping Valentine can be a guy who catches 3 or 4, or more passes out of the backfield a game, and not just screen passes. That would be a big benefit to the offense.

Reggie Love averaged 4.9 yards a carry this season despite being injured a fair amount. That's mediocre? We do have good pieces at RB to be fine next year but the room would be better with him than without.
uhhh yes? In the NFL 4.9 ypc is really good. In college football, not so much. It's ok, thus mediocre.

And while you can't take it away from someone, because it's great that it happened. But 11% of his total yards came on one play. I actually didn't look up those stats before my post, but it reinforced what I remembered. You'd get nothing, nothing, nice run, nothing nothing, nothing, nice run. Those big runs really helped him hit that ypc.

I don't think you'll find anyone that says, I'm glad he's gone. But I do think there are plenty that say ehhh, not a big deal. That just means more touches for Feagin.

My impression is that Love ran well if there was a hole, but he was unable to create the way Feagin can. Just seems like he went down a lot after one hit.

Feagin falls forward and gets extra yards. He needs to be running down hill and not laterally where he is easier than I tackle.

Love has good vision. He just doesn’t have the strength/size to break tackles of the speed to get the corner to break a big run. several times this year if he was a step faster he breaks a big run.

Right? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills... I would have guessed he'd be top 2 in carries next year and provide more depth to a position that we straight up ran out of players for this year... I think things will be fine without him next year given we stay healthy, but that is not something I expect to happen.

Blayne Sisson is a two time All State First Team QB from Mt. Carmel IL (not Chicago Mt. Carmel) who was an SIU commit but took an Illini PWO offer a couple of weeks ago. He stepped into the QB spot his sophomore year after the starting QB was injured and made some All State teams that year as well. Despite all the stats he is probably going to be back at his natural Wide Receiver role or as a safety, he is an iron man who was in virtually every play on both sides of the ball leading them to the State Final game last week, which they lost. Quality young man who overcame some adversities in his life including losing his biological father who died in an oil well fire and issues pertaining to that loss.

I'm buying Anderson stock.
