Grant Smith Maroa and Brayden Trimble Mt. Zion have commited already. JC Anderson the TE on Mt Zion is a big time TE they are in on.Any players we should watch in state championship’s tomorrow? As in players who may be committed or possible flips?

+ 1Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Welcome to the famIlly, Grant!
Could have something to do with Corey Parker and Dre Brown joining program. I believe Parker has strong ties in MI, but he was with Toledo and assume he has good connections in Ohio and possibly some in IN. Dre was recruiting coordinator at ND, so I would assume has built relationships in IN and Midwest. Illini had already made some inroads in Ohio before those guys came in too. Believe we had 2 DL recruits from OH in 2024 class.Curious, what’s the impetus for the focus now Indy? I assume, perhaps incorrectly, that getting assistants with ties to a new area are what drive new recruiting focus areas.
thinking JUCO LB Ismael Kante is in, but hasn't announced yet

Funny how much easier it is to say you're the reason for a team's success when you're the DC of a Top 5 defense coming off an 8 win season than it is after coaching one of the worst teams and defenses in all of college football on a 1 win football team while your former team is getting mentions as a CFP Top 25 team and could still win as many as 10 games.Really looks like commits are flipping from PU and Walters now.
So we're going to be Iowa.. I can definitely live with that. Some of these new staff members have relationships there ... We also have been building relationships in those states for a while now ...
We're going to be a 9-3 football team that puts dudes in the league ... Kids notice that ...
I'll take the squakeyes' football success over ours but please don't say we're going to be Iowa.So we're going to be Iowa.. I can definitely live with that.

Nah the goal is to be "Super-Iowa" or "Super Wisconsin" that can be a playoff darkhorse.I'll take the squakeyes' football success over ours but please don't say we're going to be Iowa.

Eventually Illini need to start winning more of the recruiting battles instate. Noticed some really good players in state tournament going to Missouri, Georgia, Indiana, Stanford, etc. We got a couple from smaller schools but not from the power high schools.
It’s not really about winning recruiting battles anymore but more like quality programs ability to out bides their competitors. The more you give to fund NIL, the more of these battles we will win.
We’ve seen some movement to the positive with recruiting, but not going to really move the needle in a big way until Illini have two winning seasons in a row. If Illini are say 2-4 next year, all the positives a top recruit was feeling after seeing in person victories over Michigan and another team this year are dampened and possibly washed away. If Illini are 4-2 or 5-1 instead, well now we’re cooking with gas.Eventually Illini need to start winning more of the recruiting battles instate. How come Rutgers is kicking our !!! in recruiting? They don't have consistent success and I doubt they have more NIL based on their low football fan engagement?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think we need to put all these stipulations on our recruiting ability (message board fans need to donate more NIL, it takes 10 years of bowl games, etc.). I think the staff just needs to recruit better
