Obviously this isn't unique to us in this era, but we've now gone 4 years without our own high school recruit starting a game at quarterback. Taking it back even further, other than the unfortunate 2017 season, our primary starter has been a transfer for a full decade.

Why?

Though we were set at QB for the 2026 season hehe....not panicked by any means.

Plus not used to a QB stockpile for any team, HS, college, or pro.

I would bet we will be getting a QB transfer, who has more experience than Leary had. That will be a valuable insurance policy in case Luke gets injured.

He is it going to play next year and there will be better options for 2026 either internal or portal.

So does Trey Petty become 2nd string. Is Kirckland still with the team. Would love to see what Trey has to offer as Qb. Would be good to get him some playing time for next year.

Further reason to believe that Altmyer will be returning. Was, of course, hoping both would return. Best of luck to Mr. Leary!

Wouldn't be getting the level of players that seem interested if Luke wasn't coming back

the reason Leary is in the portal is because Luke is coming back

Leary is making the correct decision . he needs to go to a program whete he has a decent chance to start and make a little money

Meh. He's allowed a lot of pressures but he's played a lot of snaps as a freshman and sophomore, with two years remaining.
