I feel the same way about Hugh as I did about Hawkins. It's his time to get what he can. I was impressed with his development after some avert-my-eyes pints in his earlier days.

This type of thing comes to an end when programs can pay players directly, right? B1G and SEC should have a much larger pocketbook to play with at that point.
Yes and no, Texas Tech has a big oil money booster in Cody Campbell. It will be easier for the B1G/SEC schools but there are going plenty of other P4 schools that will have a decent NIL, see Texas schools.

I don't want to derail the conversation but the guy is a trump supporting billionaire. It doesn't matter how good his story is or how much good he does for the university. A lot of the faculty will never support him. I hope he doesn't take it personally and stop donating. We could use every major donor we can get right now.

Anyone seen report JUCO players will now lose any eligibility at NCAA level — 4 years even if play two at JC.

Ehhh.... a lot of them have hunter whitenacks issue....just too slow and stiff to make any effective blocks. Give me some mobile and nasty josh kruetz and Doug Kramer types.

It’s true. JUCO years no longer go against their eligibility years
Just to clarify, it's a preliminary injunction, in one case. There's no final ruling on Pavia's case yet, and the ruling only applies to him. Theoretically other JUCOs would need to sue and get similar injunctions (though the NCAA could voluntarily restrain itself from enforcing the eligibility rules until Pavias case plays out).

I just saw the subsequent posts and the article so I can answer my own question now. It could be effective immediately for anyone else willing to sue at this point and eventually the NCAA will find it useless to defend their position, and will have to change the rule - likely for all sports. Good news for our son playing Juco ball and planning to move up next year.

This will create a Covid-like glut. Suddenly rosters will have players who have one or two more years of eligibility than they thought.
