Correction! Will they ever make it to campus???? We are bringing in a a lot of low quality talent thru the portal every year and you think that these young men like CB and TP are seriously going to stay?????? If I was TP I would already be in the transfer portal and CB should decommit!!!

This reflects the politicized and petty nature of the assessment of Mr. Kahn's suitability for the award by an unqualified voter who probably knows vey little about running a manufacturing concern.

Kate Clancy, a member of the anthropology department, complained about news reports that Khan recently held a "yacht party" attended by politicians she deemed suspect.

Beginning to wonder if any of the talented high school QBs we sign will ever make it to the field as a starter?
Best route for fball and bball non-rotation players is to go midmajor. Play and develop x 2 years then transfer to Power conference.

Bert I agree with you. A good high school qb could go to a smaller school have a good couple years and then transfer to a bigger school. I understand having a good backup is essential, but someone like Leary probably didn’t want to sit behind Altmeyer one more year. I see the same for Petty. Would love to see play against competition. I will say we have a qb room now and the future.

If Lunney is here in 3 years, then definitely yes. If he’s not here in three years, then also yes.
Really Petty Boyd (Newton) Clayton have good profiles. Keep stacking. 2/3 years there will be a start. Then hopefully continue for the next 5+ years of in house QB.

Ignoring the team fandom dynamics and focusing on the recruit: If I'm a top 20-to-40 prep QB recruit then I'm going to the best mid-major setup possible that's going to give me a real chance to win the job. If you show promise early then you're going to get offers to start at a P4. Coaches are falling (too much) in love with minimizing risk over playing for ceiling, so if you can earn experience and show success at an earlier career point, teams will offer serious NIL for you.

Arch Manning is an example. When he went to Texas, he thought he would be playing in the NFL in 2025. Had he played at a smaller school in 2023, transferred to Michigan in 2024, he probably would be in the NFL in 2025.

doesn't belong in recruiting but it is typical for a bunch of professors who have
never had a real job or a real budget in their lives to talk down to a self made
billionaire. i wonder what would happen if he was buying a $200,000,000 liberal
arts building. they sit on their professors salaries and tenure as the smartest guy
in every room. ruling over the masses and billionaires. screw them....

yes, and why not? he's not an NFL lineman
without a big uptick in a year, so why not
get paid.

was it Al Mcguire who called basketball players
on an all airport team If they maybe just looked
the part?

There's a risk to that strategy too. Malachi Nelson(#1 Overall QB recruit in 2023 class) transferred to Boise State this year to get on the field early and still didn't earn the starting job. Not only did he not get game experience but he probably took a big NIL paycut compared to if he had just stayed at USC.

This isn't a great example because Nelson started at USC and went to a G5 after getting beat out for the job by a lesser-regarded player. Plus, we were mostly talking about good-but-not-elite QB recruits. Nelson was #1 in 2023.

We are saying that starting at a mid-major is the preferred route from the player perspective. It's likely that USC wasn't willing to pay Nelson at the same rate as he was in year 1, or maybe they weren't willing to compensate him at all going forward. Regardless of whether you start at a P4 or G5 program, you still need to be good enough to start to earn the real NIL money in step 2.

Ah yes, the ol’ development league structure.

I, for one, cannot wait for every college football player to spend 2 non-counting years at JUCO, 2 years at a mid-major, and two years at a P4. Bunch of 23/24 year olds in the draft.

Well a lot of NFL execs wouldn't mind having the entire prime of a draftee within in his rookie contract
