Fun fact, his high school still runs the Single Wing Offense aka the offense that Red Grange played in.
Let's start with some JCs....
Agree. Parents gave him a head start in life. Smart.Like the commit for the name alone
I don't necessarily agree with this take. Our receiving corps is young for the most part, but Beatty seems like that upperclassman primed for a big leap next year- I really liked what I saw out of him as the season went on and he had some great individual effort plays against South Carolina that gives me a lot of confidence that not only can he contribute at this level but he could wind up on an all conference B10 list next year. I've also loved what I've seen out of Dixon thus far- he's a guy that has looked really steady with good hands and gets some nice separation. Elzy and ACJ are wild cards right now, but if one of them can make that next level jump, I'd argue that despite two NFL players walking out the door, our WR group will still be a major strength next season. We're building something great there.I’d agree with that, but we’re losing two very good to great receivers and I haven’t seen much to indicate we have sure fire replacements waiting in the wings. Not saying there isn’t talent there, but I’d feel better with some talent with a track record of performance.
Dixon to me looks like PB 2.0I don't necessarily agree with this take. I am excited to see what Beatty can do next year. He showed a glimpse against SC with 4 catches for 90 yards (on only 13 snaps). You can count on one hand the number of times he drops a ball or doesn't run a good route. The one catch he made when he took the ball away from the SC defender not only resulted in a first down, but it also negated a potential interception. I'm also curious to see what Trimble (the Mt. Zion recruit that is entering school this semester) might contribute as soon as next fall. He has great speed and skills. That said, if the Illini add someone that is just 80% of what PB was, look out!Agree. Only preferred outcome change I would have liked to see is more from Dixon, to increase the confidence he can step up and provide 35-40 catches next year. Beatty seems primed to take a big leap next year and Lunney will likely move him around to get the matchups he wants.
As I said in previous post, I like what I’ve seen from Beatty and agree with your take on him. Dixon has been solid, but not on par with the two guys leaving. The key word in your take on Etzy and ACJ is “if.” Sure, if one of them takes a big jump, we’re likely good. And if one doesn’t?I don't necessarily agree with this take. Not sure I’d go that far, but he was more productive than PB was his first year. Hope you’re right.Dixon to me looks like PB 2.0
Love this. Two years of eligibility left too.
Now i'm feeling pretty good about our team on offense next year. We had to get 2 WR because of what we lost, and we did that.Beautiful!
